    Every coach in every level of basketball will tell you to play defense with your feet. It is consider lazy to use your hands when you have to move your feet and get between the offensive player and the basket.

    That era was horrible from a fundamental and defensive standpoint.

    One thing people ignore about handchecking is that the offensive player could spin out of the post and use their off hand to force their defender behind them. If you watch MJ highlights out of the post you can see it in action.
