On an everyday basis in the real world. Pick just one.

Was negative most of my teens. Slowly and slowly becoming more positive in my 20s.

i'm a negative thinker and i keep alcohol handy. truth be told, about 90% of real life is better described through pessimism also known as realism.

Is the glass half empty, or is it half full? I don't care. All I know is that it contains half a glass of liquid.

If that's enough to quench my thirst, I'm content with it. Should I complain that it was only water, when I wanted something else? Maybe. But only if I have some reason to believe it will increase my chances of getting my preferred drink next time.

If it's not enough to quench my thirst, then I'll try to get more. If I'm not capable of getting more, then I will have to endure thirst. Should I tell myself how fortunate I am to have half a glass, while other people may have none? Maybe. But only if I have some reason to believe it will reduce my suffering, as I endure thirst.

Is this thinking positive, or is it negative?

I tend to be negative, although I try really hard to think positive. So yeah, it depends.

I can't trick myself into thinking positive thoughts. Although I'm more of a zero shits given type of person especially when it comes to people.

Negative. I've had some life experiences that have molded me to always expect/prepare for the worst. It's useful in many ways like ensuring I don't get screws in work/school related stuff, but sometimes take the enjoyment out of things.

I've also wish I could more of a "no shits given" person, but it's hard for me, I over think sometimes even when my initial feeling was probably the best judgement.
