Fair enough. But he isn't very efficient either. When you have a high volume player shooting more, a lot more, than any other player in the league for enormous periods of time he is going to compile a lot of counting stats.

He was considered GOAT, yeah. But a lot can happen in 30 years lol.
Magic also has one MVP over Duncan. More dynamic and did more for the NBA.
I'm picking Duncan because of longevity, comparable accolades, AND his slew of All-Defensive teams. He was the defensive anchor. Basketball is played two ways and quite frankly, his impact on D blows Magic out of the water.
I wouldn't be too upset if Magic won though.

The problem is you can argue that for any all-time great.
How many rings would wilt have if he didn't play against Russell's stacked Celtics? Shaq would've had 5 rings if he didn't play in the era of of Hakeem and GOAT centers.
Luck has always been a part of it.

First off, props that you're a fan of history.
But things change over time. You can easily put Bob cousy over magic using the same reasoning (6 rings, and was the first fast break PG who influenced pistol Pete and subsequently magic) or even Oscar Robertson.
You need to take everything into account. And while Duncan has comparable accolades as magic, he has longevity AND a career full of all defensive first teams.
Bball is a two way game and his defense blows magics out of the water.
And dude. How do you think I feel about bird? Insane peak, goat tier bbiq, love the man but I can't realistically put him above 8.
