Don Nelson daring MJ to shoot 3's a la Lebron 2013
Thought it interesting.

The strategy made sense: In his first five seasons before that one, Jordan was pretty horrendous from downtown, shooting 20% on three-point attempts. “He figured it out a couple of minutes in, saw it as a challenge, starting launching threes and laughing at us,” Nelson, now retired, tells TIME from his home in Hawaii. (Popovich spent the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons as an assistant to Nelson with Golden State). Jordan hit seven of his twelve three-point attempts, and finished with 44 points in a 132-107 Chicago win. “Oh, I remember that game,” Nelson says, with a laugh. Beware poking the bear.

Also, I don't know how many people know this but MJ joined the 3 point contest in 1990. It's only 1:50 long.

He was smiling after from embarrassment lolol. But always major props for people who try anyway, even if they fail.

So Jordan, after being dared, hit 7/12 threes. Moral of the story is simple: don't challenge MJ. He lived to hear that he couldn't do something. The media, during the 92 finals, went on about how Drexler was a better 3 point shooter, and statistically he was. But then game 1 happened and 6 first half 3pointers later.....
By contrast, in last years finals the Spurs dared Lebron to beat them from outside. And he spent the majority of that series proving that strategy to be an effective one.

the difference between an alpha and beta.
Bran would never join the 3 point contest, he would be too afraid to fail. Hell, he won't even join the dunk contest and he could easily win that.

he's gotten much stronger, mentally. He still has some way to go though.

I think people are giving him a lot of grief. People have been burdening him since he was 16. Expectations of him are through the roof. He's afraid to fail (he admitted it) and it's ok.
Bahaha the video of MJ's 3 point contest. Look at his face at the end lol.

until he started hitting from midrange and beyond the arc and dropped 37 points in an epic game 7 victory

Pretty much. Never mind that he's shooting 40% from 3 this postseason.

And that's why he's the GOAT kids. You tell him something he can't do and he'll prove you wrong.
I remember he scored like 8 pts when he was with the Wizards and EVERYONE was talking about how MJ was clearly washed up and should have retired. Next game? He dropped 40+ and his first words in the post-game press conference was "What were you all calling me again the other night?"
Kobe TRIES to be like this but he more often that not fails. Kudos to him though for still trying.
LeBron doesn't even try because he's so afraid of failing.

Why are LeBron fans bringing up MJ when their hero is in the NBA finals, with a chance to 3-peat?

Bran won't even do the fan voted dunk contest that he'd run away with, but MJ did the 3 point contest.
Sounds about right.
