Kobe has better range than Jordan but Jordan is more smarter on his shot selection. I think skill wise they are about the same

kobe is marginally better than jordan on 3 pointers, but only in the reg season. in the playoffs, jordan's margin is higher. and in the finals, there is an even bigger gap.
jordan also has a better midrange game.
shots around the basket, there's no comparison. jordan blows him away.

#1 ) MJ averaged way more FGA while he played then Kobe did...so you are wrong in that aspect...MJ was better at getting his shot off ....( he simply did it much more)
#2) Kobe Bryant career
2PT%------------------------>48.3%
3PT%(eFG)------------------>33.9%
FT%-------------------------->83.7%
TS%(2PT%+ 3PT%+ FT%)-->55.7%
Michael Jordan career
2PT%------------------------>51.0%
3PT%(eFG)------------------>32.7%
FT%-------------------------->83.5%
TS%(2PT%+ 3PT%+ FT%)-->56.9%
Overall, in points per possesion kobe is behind michael by only 1.2% because he is marginally a better FT shooter, and he takes and makes a lot more threes(the main reason he's so behind in FG%). But overall, with all factors considered he's literally behind jordan by only 1.2% in overall efficiency.
so while it is technically " different".....I would use the term " Marginally Different"....at best

( not sure why I'm replying...as most Jordan Jockers are basketball illiterates)[/COLOR]

kobe shoots 40% and under about 1 out of every 3 games. jordan does that about 1 out 6 games. thats more than marginal.
1/3 of his games. thats absurd. if he was that skilled, you'd think he could be a bit more consistent.

At worst they're as skilled as one another. At best Jordan's superior off the ball game gives him a definitive advantage skill wise over Kobe's slight superiority shooting the long ball. It's literally that simple.

i think kobe is more skilled than jordan, his footwork in the post is amazing and he can basically do it all. jordan was very similar but he played in an era with easier team defenses (no zone defenses where you can overload all of your players to focus on one guy).

Ummm, no. Have you played organized team basketball @ any level? Do you understand how to beat a zone? Because this post very clearly implies you don't.
Jordan's superior off the ball game, or catch n shoot abilities negate the zone. MJ's era they learned in college to kill REAL zones. Pros should be able to do it quite easily if they're as skilled as pros are meant to be.
That's why it didn't exist in the pros. Everyone could shoot, pass, and move without the ball.
You cut to the middle of a zone, or the soft spots to spot up for a shot. Not try to take entire team defenses aka zones off the dribble.
You constantly move, set screens, catch and shoot off the pass immediately. Efficiently without wasting energy.
These psuedo zones look more effective against Kobe because he dribbles too much to get into rhythm, doesn't have the same mid range shooting / catch and shoot skills that Jordan possessed.
Soft zone works against LeBron more because he lacks a consistent jumper, and mid range game. He's either drive, and kick or shoot the three ball for much of his career.
Soft zone works against Wade more because he lacks the post game, or a jumper period.
The soft rotating zone was put into the league to limit Shaq. And was also forcing the return of quality team skills that didn't relate exclusively to one on one abilities. The 2000s saw an influx of dumb HS players with no true knwoledge about the game or the different ways to play it. Including going against zone.
It's why the 2002 Team USA, and the 2004 Nightmare Team got beat by inferior athletic opponents.
Kobe is a marginally better ball handler. Marginally better long range shooter. He's clearly better shooting the three off the dribble though.
Meanwhile MJ is superior in every other regard. MJ is way better off ball skill set, ability to read defenses, aka his basketball intelligence. A skill.
Jordan would eat these zones ALIVE.

Off the ball movement doesnt negate zones... off the ball movement is effective for man to man in order to shake off your opponent to get an open shot. In zones the player doesnt have to follow or chase you around, they just have to be aware of you coming into their zone.
Setting screens to beat zones??? wtf is setting a screen gonna do against a zone defense?
MJ didn't have the long range shooting to beat a zone... zone defenses would eat MJ alive. Having three or four players on the same side of the court as MJ constantly ready to rush in and help any time he decided to drive to the basket, MJ wouldve shot 42% every season.

if you wanna talk about actual skill...Larry Bird is probably the most skilled player of all time. Skills don't make you the best though, production does! KD validates my dislike for him every time his bitchass opens his mouth.
You have to actually get out there and perform. It's like the UFC. You see all these guys with these ridiculous wrestling credentials and karate or jujitsu and shit, then Jon Jones a junior college wrestler comes out there and puts them right on their shit .
