Million Dollar Baby has some inspirational parts even though most of it is depressing.
The Road is doom and gloom throughout.

Requiem for a Dream. Left me in a funk for about a fortnight after the first time I watched it.

lol good one.
I watched it a long time ago. I don't remember WHY I was watching it but I remember crying a little. Pretty depressing movie.
Edit: I don't like watching Forrest Gump. I find it depressing as f*ck and the ending always makes me cry.

This is a great one. Not one thing about the imagery or themes in that movie had one shred of hope in them, besides maybe the bomb shelter when they find canned stew and non perishable goods

Re: Movies that are just flat out depressing from start to finish
My wife likes japanese movies and we have a bunch of them. Some are drama's so they are 12 episodes.
Sekai no Chushin De:
The drama alternates between current day with Sakutaro (Saku) a grown man, still trying to come to grips with the death of his high school love Aki from leukemia 17 years prior. He is currently involved with a woman who has a little boy and is planning to marry her, but he finds some tapes she had made him in a box, and returns to the home town to try to reconcile some things for himself. The bulk of the drama is him and Aki in the past (1980's Japan in a small town), falling in love, dealing with the heartbreak and joys of life day to day, and finally dealing with her illness and eventually, her passing.
It killed me.
There are a ton like this (mostly movies), Taiyou no Uta about a girl who the sun poisons who is slowly dying, another about a girl who has a muscle disease which is slowly killing her. Ai no Uta is a drama about a family whose mother dies from a disease, and the father finds out he is also dying of same disease and will die soon. He meets a strange girl and just when she becomes happy with him she finds out he's dying. Japanese are really fatalistic, they see a beauty in facing it with grace. But as far as entertainment it makes me sad.
Anyone ever see NOBODY KNOWS? It's about a mom who abandons her kids to live for themselves. It's all bad, all depressing, no resolution.
As for american
September in NY: Richard Gere falls in love with Wyona Ryder who is dying of an incurable disease. It's depressing as **** and also an awful movie.
How about Seven? Bleak and depressing as **** albeit a great film.
