Default Re: Dominique Wilkins: Kobe Bryant in his prime better all around player than Lebron

    Both are tremendous players.
Nique didn't give a true answer.

    Michael (New York)

In your opinion who is the better all around player, Lebron James or Kobe Bryant? Also who would you have rather played with between the two?
    Dominique Wilkins**(12:12 PM)

They are very similar. Kobe in his prime was probably the better all around player, but LeBron has taken over that title.
Kobe was the better all-around player but LeBron took the title of better all-around player?

Prime to prime comparison, they"ll likely equally as good but Kobe will wow you more. And they will dominate in a different way. Kobe's domination is more noticeable as he rips your heart out hitting jumpshot after jumpshot, scoring 50 easily if he has to......while LeBron's domination is perhaps more impactful but less noticeable.

Can't go wrong with either. Guys like those 2, Jordan, Magic, Bird....IMO, their level of play in their prime was just so good you can't pick one surely over the other. I would also mention T Mac here as ridiculous as it may sound, he wasn't quite at that level but he was close. Only for one year though. Unfortunately only talent wise he was at that level, he was still young so his basketball smarts and impact still didn't catch up to his talent at that time...whereas guys like Kobe and LeBron had both the physical and mental prime at the same time.

My goodness are you the only person who understood this...

Newsflash, Kobe and LeBron's primes didn't overlap. Kobe during his prime was better than LeBron at the time and LeBron in his prime is better than Kobe of the same time. Wow, what a revelation.

The problem is that you are trying to dishonestly pass it off as him saying prime Kobe was better than prime LeBron.

What he said was ambiguous. You can spin it however way your agenda feels necessary. Not you personally, but in general.

The funny thing is, Lebron has been better than Kobe since 05

On the lebrons prime thing, he obviously wasn't in his prime, but in 04/05 his second season, he avged 27/7/7 with 2 steals a game on 47/35 shooting. Kobe avged 27/6/6 with 1 steal a game on 43/34 shooting. There is a legitimate argument to be made that at no time in his career was Kobe ever the best player in the game.

Seems like to me he is saying that when Kobe was in his prime, he was the better all around player which is obvious because Lebron was not in his prime yet. Then he's saying now Lebron is the better overall player because he is in HIS prime which is obvious because Kobe is not in his prime anymore. So at the end of the day, it sounds like he's just using common sense...

Problem with common sense is that it's not common on this board.. I agree with your conclusion..

A poll of non-laker/kobe/Lebron/Heat fans would probably have this at about 90% for LeBron being better prime for prime.

Pretty obvious he's saying prime vs prime Kobe was better, with Lebron being in his prime now and thus atm better.

You do know that not every basketball legend agrees with each other right? According to your logic, you must be thinking that you know more then some other basketball legend.
