It isn't the release point it's his balance...he comes down on his right food which is weird for righties...everyone [just think of Kobe] comes down on their left foot if anything. He needs to come down on both legs.

I think that's how he was shooting when he was rehabbing and even if the leg is stronger than it was before. I just saw him hop on the surgically repaired knee and explode for a score as I type this....looks like it's habitual or mental [his jumpshot].

He is playing great position defense though; stymying Lawson...he isn't even getting shots up, Rose is right with him even when he shoots, forcing tough shots that end up in misses.
