Default Is D-Wade really done at 31?

Now, I am not a big Heat fan, I am indifferent to them but I am seeing all these restrictions on Wade, no back to backs til December and even then, limited minutes, saving his body for the playoffs etc which I would understand... if he was 37 and Tim Duncan. So I start looking back a few years, even when he was putting up 30 PPG in 2008 people still said he was injury prone(And I think I read a report wayyy back when he was at Marquette saying something about his health).

So I never followed him fully, but is he really done at 31? I read that he was re-invigorated this off season and did all these little extras to stay healthy and in shape and come back "better" but now....who knows? What is your opinion on Wade? I know he is still capable of being a very good SG but does he even care anymore? I don't know what it is but his attitude in interviews seems a bit apathetic? Do you think he is satisfied with 3 rings? Whats your opinion on CURRENT D-Wade?

This is not a Heat hating thread, I am genuinely curious about what people think about him beyond internet articles saying he is Mr. Glass.

The Heat are my least favorite team in the NBA, always have been. But Wade has the accomplishments that most will never achieve in the NBA on his body. He is no where near done, but he's coming off three deep playoff runs, and two back to back championships...what the hell do you expect? He is human dude.

Wade kind of sold his soul to the devil. Rather than playing smart, he played reckless for a few good seasons just to suffer at the early age of 31.

I don't think he should be ranked as one of the best SG's ever when guys like West, Miller, MJ and Kobe were killing it every season of their career.

Wade is overrated in that sense where he had to play his hardest and sacrificed his body. Where the other guys I mentioned above were just saving their body and dominating at the same time.

i don't think he'll be a top 10 player again, but he still has some life in those knees.

I don't think so either. He was killing his body just to peak those couple of years. He isn't like Kobe and MJ where they can easily dominate without tearing up their body. Imagine the numbers MJ and Kobe would have if they sold their souls for 2 peak years. I'm thinking 40 point averages but they are not stupid.

Look at 17 year old Kobe putting numbers up that nobody has seen for his age. He went all out and tore his achilles. Wade went all out and now paying for it because he couldn't do it as easily as those guys.

Wade hasn't missed an extended stretch of games for the last 5 seasons; in the last 3 seasons he has played 20+ playoff games; stop talking shit.

If Wade was doing great he would not have all of these restrictions. His body has taken it's toll. Age is catching up to him. He's on the decline. It's natural. It happens to everyone.

Course not..Miami just does him rest because it's very early in the season..they won't do it all the time.they need wade in the playoffs not now anyway.

let's put it this way...his best days are behind him. does that mean he won't have an occasional set of games or good series? nope, but he just won't be able to sustain that level, will be inconsistent and start missing more games.

wade played a super reckless style when he was younger and still does to a degree. weren't there rumors that his knee cartilage was practically gone? you're nearing the end of the road when that's the case.

more or less, yes. and there are knee microfracture surgeries but considering the surgeries and drainings wade has had, it could be a super long shot success wise. they're experimenting with regrown cartilage but that's probably still at least a few years away from being adequately reliable.

Wade played 70 games last season and was putting up 24/5/5/3/1 on near 54% over a 20+ game stretch. Then he bumped knees and got injured. The guy is unlucky like that sometimes. He still averaged 21/5/5/2/1 on only 16 shots.

    He's far from being done.
