Why do many people here think Jeremy Lin sucks?
Jeremy Lin was coming off knee surgery to start the season. His shot was off, and it was his first time starting on a new team. He improved as the season went on.
So let's compare his stats after the all-star break to some good point guards:
Jeremy Lin:
15.0 points per game
6.0 assists per game
1.07 steals per game
2.81 turnovers per game
37.5% 3-point percentage
45.0% field goal percentage
Chris Paul:
16.9 points per game
9.7 assists per game
2.4 steals per game
2.3 turnovers per game
32.8% 3-point percentage
48.1% field goal percentage
Damian Lillard:
19.0 points per game
6.5 assists per game
0.9 steals per game
3.0 turnovers per game
36.8% 3-point percentage
42.9% field goal percentage
John Wall:
18.5 points per game
7.6 assists per game
1.3 steals per game
3.2 turnovers per game
26.7% 3-point percentage
44.1% field goal percentage
So Lin was going 15 and 6, while shooting nearly 38% from 3 and a fg% of 45%.
How is this not considered solid? And his assists are down because Harden dominates the ball in the offense, unlike the other point guards mentioned.
And his defense is pretty decent, too.

Game changes completely (for the better) once Beverley subs in.

Do the playoffs matter at all? Because he was awful to the point they put everyone and anyone out there instead of him.

Great college starter
Re: Why do many people here think Jeremy Lin sucks?
Why are you convinced that he's good? What has he done to make you think that? How did he perform in the playoffs? He is a decent bench player not a starter in this league. He is too ball dominant and needs the ball to be effective. I like the rockets. I'm not racist and I don't care about things like that. I'm a basketball fan and if someone plays good basketball I have no problem saying that they do. He's not a starter in this league, he's just not. That team will be better when Brooks or any other PG is playing this year. I'm sorry but that's the truth. Linsanity was a nice thing and his story is great. Now the dust has settled and everyone can relax and look at him objectively. He's not terrible but he's just not a good starter in this league and he's not what that team needs.

This is completely false. Bevs brings energy and defense but he doesn't run the offense for shit.
Lin gets a lot of hate because he didn't do much in the playoffs. He had a bad game 1 was starting solid in game 2 (7pts at the half) but got injured and that was that.
But he was the real deal in the regular season and is still a young player with a lot of room for improvement. He scored 15ppg in the 2nd half and upped it to 17ppg in the last month. He showed continuous improvement through the whole season. If he picks up next season where he left off and gets a solid jumper he could be real threat. He was able to drive past anyone even with defenses sagging on him.
And he's gonna get at least 2 lobs a game to DH. Remember how many he served up to Chandler?

it's a backlash to the hype.....
he's a very good player IMO, but the higher up you are on a pedestal the further you fall down in people's eyes.....
just comes with the territory.....

Absolutely wet the bed against an elite PG in the playoffs for one. Could barely get his shot off, looked scared on defense.
Also he only averages 6 assists on the fastest paced team in the league. With Harden, Parsons, Asik, Greg Smith (very athletic big) and some good floor spacers.
Also when you actually look at his stats for the WHOLE season its a pathetic 13 points a game on .440.
He provides little on offense for a starting guard, is an OK shooter at best, and a decent passer on a team that could thrive with an above average floor general. Jeremy Lin does not suck but in this era of great guards he sucks compared to them.

No it doesn't. Beverley brought the energy off the bench, but it wasn't like he was any better.

The first game of the playoffs was the worst game he ever played in the NBA. The second game, he was doing much better but got injured.
He then missed games and when he came back he was playing injured.
That playoff series was an anomaly compared to all other games he's played in the NBA.

Re: Why do many people here think Jeremy Lin sucks?
beverly isn't any better. People think he sucks for the position the media have given him. He's a decent starting point guard and nothing more yet he's been hyped up and they tried to push him to star status but he failed and clearly isn't a star. He's not very good at running an offence either but would be a decent 4th wheel to a real big 3 of Dwight, Harden and another free agent signing in the future.
