So, there's video of Wilt dunking free throws but there's no video of this? Bullshit this story must be made up. No way they wouldn't have filmed this.

One day, in a quiet and near-empty Barcelona gym, Bird and Mullin got into a shooting contest: man on man, match the other guy's shot or you owe him a hundred bucks. Stays even if both guys make it.

"It was just basic shots - jumpers, bank shots, not like the McDonald's commercial (laughter)," Mullin said. "I got off nice. After a while I had him by ... quite a bit."

Like, how much - a grand?

"More than that. I think I was up like 20 shots. So we're talkin' back and forth (Bird was a legendary trash talker), and he starts coming back. I'm thinking, we could go another 30 minutes. Somebody's gonna win big here.

"Finally, he gets it back to zero," Mullin said, "and he goes, 'I'm out.' Just cut off the game right there."

What, he didn't want to take you down?

    "Nope. Says to me, 'I ain't never lost, and I ain't ... now.' "

Years later, when Mullin joined the Pacers, for whom Bird was an executive, he tried repeatedly to get a rematch. No dice, Bird said. That says a lot about pride, about reputation, and about two of the greatest pure shooters who ever lived.

If Larry hasn't pick up a ball in decades then it's very impressive. But just because he's old doesn't mean that he forgot hot to shoot an open jumper.

It's not about just hitting an open jumper though. Dude hit 15 IN A ROW!! at 50+ yrs old, bad back, which is probably worse at his current age, in business clothes, and probably not even counting the shots in his head, just launching em.

This current generation of fans have truly forgotten how to enjoy any basketball related story that's not sucking off their favorite player, more so than any other era of fans that I've ever witnessed.

I'm not saying that it's not impressive.

If this is the greatest shooter that ever lived, it doesn't surprise me that he can hit 15 in a row. Is it impressive, yes, for a normal player. It's not impressive for an all time great.

I already posted a video of an all time great, Kobe Bryant, and he's nailing the shots like nothing. This is after practice too, when he's tired and have no legs. Bird was fresh and don't give that crap like he's in business attire. We don't know what he wore.

Bird on his 56 year old legs and destroyed back was "fresh"?

god how unimpressive of Larry to do that "fresh" unlike the mighty Kobe Bryant who is still an active well-conditioned athlete in the NBA that drained shots after he warmed up in practice.

What kind of weak era is this for players and fans alike? 15 shots is physically hard? Get the hell out of here.

Quit acting like age is an excuse or business attire.

Just another way to prop up Bird.

I'd have to agree that making 15 in a row isn't that unusual. Even for a very old man.

No. The small advantage Bird has on offense over LeBron is negated by everything LeBron does on the defensive end and his ability to play almost every position.
    Confirmed 15 year old.
