Exactly.
Walt continues to delude himself into thinking that he's in the business for the benefit of his family, and although that may have partially the reason he started cooking meth in the first place, the primary reason e stayed in the drug game was because of his pride in being the best.

Walt is not deluding himself about anything. That ship has sailed. He's in full Heisenberg mode now.
If anyone is interested, here is a cool deleted scene from last season's train heist

Even Jesse was like WTF.
He could have gotten out numerous times. Hell I was pissed as hell when he didn't just let Hank run with the assumption that Gail was Heisenberg.

Name one instance during the last couple seasons in which Walt actually stated or even tried to convince someone that he's "doing it for his family". Heck, he even told Jesse "I'm in the empire business". Does that sound like a delusional person to you?
As I said, he is Heisenberg now, which is why he couldn't just let accept the idea of someone else (Gale).

Re: Breaking Bad: The Epic Refresher
Just finished Season 5 part 1...incredible. Had to go back and watch the opening scene from first episode of season 5 and it made a lot more sense as it's his 52nd birthday, so a year ahead of when Season 5 ended.
Walt became a lot less likeable during this season, his ego and self interest showed way more than before.
I was pulling for Mike the most this season probably.
