It's crazy how much Melo's stock has fallen in a month. He had a good regular season, was actually efficient, and the Knicks had a great offense. Now they look all out of sorts and Melo is being waaay too ball dominant. He can actually play well off the ball as we've seen in the Olympics, they need to let Felton create more

This is about my top 10, in rough order. He's just looking in, though; a legitimate argument could be made that he's in the top 10. Long story short, he's not a shoo-in top 10 player. (And Stephen Curry is also 'looking in' ... his latest playoff exploits mean he's earned that respect as well.)
Howard, Parker, Harden, and Wade are all toss ups based on their play this year.

Are we including the playoffs...which I'm sure we are. Howard was not good. Harden was dreadful at times...and really just awful outside of that 1 game. Wade had done absolutely nothing better than Melo in the playoffs so far.

the olympics example is flawed. if he had lebron and kobe on his team he is unlikely to see the opponents team's best defender.

So a player who leads the Knicks to the 2nd seed in the East, a Division Title, gets them out of the 1st round after a decade and gets the Scoring Title isn't considered a Top 10 player anymore.

    Nearly half of the guys you list are debatable;

    George, Curry, Wade...debatable.

I'd probably take Parker and Gasol over Melo...but it would depend on the situation. In a vacuum...their impact is similar. Although I like Gasol a lot.

Oh, because melo is the measuring stick? What the fcuk did Melo do? He's been fcuking abysmal. He's shooting 37% averaging 1 assist and playing no defense.

Get of his dick. He sucks.

We are comparing them to eachother and you are claiming Wade is better. And I'm trying to understand why. Wade hasn't done anything of note in the playoffs and I'd take Melo's regular season over Wade's.

    That is all.

Harden is in a similar position, being the focal point of the defense.
he averaged 26 points on 19 shots with 4.5 assists these playoffs.
that is way more efficient and team orientated.

Don't worry. I've seen it before. They will somehow want to credit Chandler and J.R. Smith for the success.

People did the same thing with Dirk and the Mavs. Chandler, a guy who can't even average a double double when he was on the Mavs, became a God in order to not give Dirk credit.

I don't even like Melo. Agree with a lot of the criticisms he gets on here and in this thread. But they lose me when they start saying guys like Harden, Wade, and Curry are for sure better.

Carmelo doesnt get "extra credit" because the knicks have sucked for 10 years. He was ON some of those teams.

Durant gave him the scoring title, and frankly so did Lebron. Both are better scorers who had bigger things to focus on then scoring titles. Carmelo was gunning for it like its the most important achievement of his career. Oh, right... it is.

Carnelo didnt LEAD squat. Kidd and Chandler were the LEADERS. Carmelo was the designated chucker, and the team did it together. Also, the division sucked balls. Theyd have been a 6 or 7 seed in the west.

LoL @ the contrived reasons for Carmelo being top 10

CarMElo is just doing what his mentor KoME taught him to do. Lay bricks in big games.
