Prok Jay-Z and the Nets all benefited from this.
Prok: I need a face for this, wouldn't have had this issue if I had brooklyn born Melo.
Jay: Cool, I get clout for this, I got a mil in the ashtray.
Nets: Everyone in BK is gonna wear our shit now.
Mission accomplished.
Let see how much Robinson Cano makes before we slam the master plan.

Re: JAY-Z ripping Nets in new rap song
Just to be clear, I'm not criticizing Jay-Z or the Nets over his involvement, as it made sense for both parties. I just think it's lame that he was putting on like he owned half the team, getting all upset when people suggested his chunk wasn't all that large.

It was all a front my man, he had to look offended to play the role.

It doesn't, but he's famous and a large pct of the world doesn't like to slam famous people for anything.

Re: JAY-Z ripping Nets in new rap song
There was no masterplan behind all this. For Jay-Z at least. Prokhorov used him and that was the end of it. Jay was just being a douche that he is by exaggerating the ownership trying hide the fact that he's just a bench player in the business world.
He was on the Letterman prior to the BK relocation where Letterman asked him "Are you still the owner of the Nets?", and he goes "Yeah, even more so."
LOL ***** please

His ashtray change was converted into a role with one of the biggest talent agencies in the world.
But yeah, he's "butt hurt".
I'd kill to be butthurt like that.

Yeah I guess he wasn't really used if both parties benefited from it. But I still don't understand how being offended has anything to do with it.

It was an unexpected wrinkle imo, but he had to play the role.
Makes no difference, it worked, the guy advanced, everybody won.
I remember that letterman thing as well, notice how he was already briefed on what not to say, and took everything as funny.
For him, this episode was nothing more than a script.
Think about it really hard, his bench role, just landed hima bench role on the all-star team.

Jay says "I'm still keeping my seats". Whether he's in nets gear or not, I fully expect him to be at every home playoff game in his usual seat. Nets announced that the theme is "blackout Brooklyn". That arena is going to look marvelous in all black. Nine more days until the playoffs!
