Does Melo get less calls than any superstar?

Melo is 5th in the league with 6.7 FTA a game, the only person remotely far away from this is Dwight who has to play with the hack-a-dwight strategy.

I've seen a lot of Melo games, and he doesn't get ANY respect from the refs.

No I dont watch Knicks games, so I dont know if he gets calls he should get, but going by stats he seems to be getting calls at the same rate as other superstars in the league, heck even Lebron has less FTA a game being more of an inside player.

Maybe cause he's the only superstar to be involved in a brawl, which might give him an artest like attitude among the refs. I mean, if I was reffing that game and saw firsthand how melo clocked a dude then backtracked, I would tell all my fellow refs to treat him rougher than usual.

Being known doesn't make you a superstar. Also Melo doesn't get a whole lot of respect but it's not horrible.

been saying this for years...melo gets mugged more than any other superstar around the rim without getting deserved calls....his headband is always around his neck after being clobbered.

I read that ever since he got into NY his FTA have dropped significantly even though he's attacking the basket relentlessly.

Ever seen Westbrook/Rose play? They get smacked every time but they are so quick refs rarely call it.

In terms of uncalled contact, Westbrook, Rose, Griffin and Melo are up there. I think officials just expect them to make everything through contact so they only call the most blatant fouls.

This is an observation I agree w/ and is IMO inarguable.

Perhaps guys like Rose also go through this but when it comes to Melo, the dude gets relentlessly mugged/hacked on drives to the basket & scarcely gets calls while on the other end gets called for offensive fouls relatively frequently, especially when you consider his star status.

He gets no respect. I think because he is so strong and doesn't flop he doesn't get any calls, he still puts up a quality shot with contact.

If you ever watch Pekovic its the same with him. He will get hacked big time but he is so strong that he still gets up a quality shot and no foul is called.

The point is being, compared to his counterparts, he gets way less FTA's, relative to how many he's earned.

Where as, some superstars get more FTA's, solely, because they are superstars. I don't include LBJ or Dwight.
