Default is it fair to say Kobe Bryant was also the best Point Guard over the last decade?

lets be honest. kobe was a scoring point guard much like derrick rose or a russell westbrook over the last decade

he was the main play maker for the lakers since nick van exel left

Derrick Fisher was a kick out three point shooter and rarely created for others ( thats an old school shooting guard )

Kobe brought the ball up the floor. started the offense and drew double teams to open up team mates or to swing the ball by getting the initial double team

the way the lakers offense worked in the phil jackson era was not good for collecting a ton of assists... the most guys ever get are 6 or 7 ( like pippen in his prime )

pippen back in the day was considered a point forward for his dutys as play maker

well what does that make kobe?

this means kobe bryant was the POINT GUARD for 5 world championships, 7 nba finals and was a league mvp

he set up shaq for 8 years

he set up gasol for 5 years

if they counted hockey assists kobe would have 15 per game due to the triangle often causing him to be the 3rd last man to touch the ball. it wasnt always a simplistic pick and roll. kobe never held the ball and stat padded with a 1 pass system like steve nash

but kobes gotten just as many wide open shots for others because of his play making ability.

it was his job... as the best PG in the nba.

7th all time on the active career assists leaders

by the time kobes retired he should have around 6200 assists... good enough for 25th all time

i don't see how what kobe did is any different than what a russell westbrook is classified as for the thunder

and if the thunder won 5 rings over the next decade and westbrook lead the thunder in assists and scoring. he would be named the best pg of the decade

kobe is a pg/sg... he did it for 5 world titles...

its hilarious that Westbrook got more than double the 1st place votes that Paul did.

But no, Kobe is not a PG, in the same way LeBron isnt.

Majority opinion don't mean shit. Lebron is easily the best player in the league but he doesn't have every #1 vote does he? it's call dick riders and Lakers fans. Kd is easily the 2nd best player. Kobe bout number 3 imo unless Wade healthy. No player should have a #1 vote except Lebron.

Durant ate Kobe breakfast in the semi-finals and Lebron ate Durant dinner during the finals.

The fans also almost voted Allen Iverson into the all-star game two years ago when he could barely get on an NBA team. Clearly the fans know more then ESPN, NBA GMs, and pretty much every analyst that actually gets paid for their knowledge and opinions.

You did it Griff. You topped your "Why Kobe is better than Jordan" thread with an even stupider thread. You're on an insanely hot incredibly stupid thread streak right now, the likes of which may never be rivaled.

Another guy who doesn't understand positions are defensive- did Kobe cover pg's? Westbrook and rose do. True offensive basketball the players should be versatile enough to play all the roles- its defensively that the positions are seperated

The OP doesn't understand a lot of basketball related stuff.
