Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
Reggie Miller? All offense, no defense (except flops), not a great passer, and scored in a pretty one dimensional way

I usually hit open layups
Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
POINT guards are so one dimensional!

Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
Someone that just come to my mind is Jared Jeffries the only thing he can do is take a charge.

Ron is not one dimensional maybe now but not in his prime.

Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
Depends what you mean. As the question is phrased I'd understand it to mean best player who was one dimensional (probably Gervin or Dantley), but some are going for the most specialised player.
To the guy who said Shawn Bradley couldn't defend, from Rick Barry's Pro Basketball Bible 94-95 Edition

Scoring:
Best (player who is a) Specialist: Dantley/Gervin (honourable mention Dominique and a lot of the 80s scoring small forwards)
Most Specialised: Probably someone like Tony Campbell or Mike McGee. Basically bench scorers who shot a lot without doing anything else whatsoever.
Shooting:
Best (player who is a) Specialist: Reggie Miller
Most Specialised:
Best at that specialist skill: Steve Kerr
Rebounding:
Best player who is a specialist: Dennis Rodman (assuming we're not counting Moses Malone)
Most Specialised: probably Rodman (from Reggie Evans and Danny Fortson)
Best at that specialist skill: Rodman again
Blocking
Best player who is specialist: difficult if the guy can't also be a good rebounder (i.e. Russell, Wallace, Mutombo) then maybe Shawn Bradley
Most Specialised: Bol/McIlvaine/Diop/Joel Anthony
Best at that Specialist skill: Bol (if you want to put a non-specialist in there you might argue Russell)
Assists
Best player who is a specialist: Can I not pick Stockton erm ... Andre Miller (other contenders Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland)
Most Specialised: Muggsy Bogues? (I know he got steals, just about every passing pg did though, Mark Jackson didn't but had other facets to his game) runners up: Brevin Knight, Mark Jackson
Best at that specialist skill: Stockton

Well, no ****ing player in the NBA is one dimensional nowadays. But to me those guys only did one thing really well, and that is score the ball. Steve Kerr only had a shot. But he could shoot threes, freebies, and mid range with the best of them. Is he one dimensional by your definition? All he could do is shoot. But he could shoot from everywhere.
Obviously Bol is the easy choice for this thread.

Great college starter
Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
Steve Nash. He runs the same offense throughout his career and hardly plays any defense.

Re: Greatest one dimensional player in NBA History?
Doesn't one-dimensional mean good at only one thing? Some of your lists are terrible.
Where's Manute Bol/Mark Eaton? Cgraig Hodges?
