Also, a high jump is not a vertical, they are two completely different things and require different forms. A vertical is done off two feet, either with one step or no steps at all and is a two footed jump, a high jump is a running start and off one leg.

He was a great athlete, his vertical would be comparable to Shaq/Dwight/Amare, which are all around 36".

    fixed

but thats the highest he ever got.... it happened just some months before he went to Miami.. have to be really super warmed up with your legs and in rythm and make a perfect takeoff to do it....

most often its simply like this, which is still impressive

Pauk, angle and perspective make it look like that, he is not getting his chest or neck at the rim.

Is the woman on the right really 10 feet tall?

You cannot trust camera angles, especially when pictures are taken from a distance looking up.

Pauk quotes "chest at rim level" and then proceed to post pictures of LeBron with his head at rim level.

It requires great body control, and overall athleticism to be able to do this.

Excatly, here's your answer. Overall athleticism, I'm not disputing this, but we are talking about top 10 athletes of NBA history here. Players who were unique when it comes to combination of speed, quickness, power, vertical, strength,....

Sure, Nash has great body control but that's not enough. Not even close. He's also quick but nowhere near Rose/Iverson/Wade level.

Wilt also said he could beat Muhammad Ali in boxing fight, that he had sex with over 20 000 women and that he got in a fight with a mountain lion and that he ended up victorious by grabbing it by its tale and throwing it away.

I guess its all true since Wilt said so.

Honestly if Wilt was the tallest player of his era while also being the fastest, strongest and highest jumper with the biggest wingspan and reach how come he resorted to sso many fadeaways and awkward finger rolls? He should have been able to overpower and dunk the ball on almost every possession and his FG% should have been over 70% for his career

dunks? maybe.. arguably... but then the list would completely change...

the topic here is ATHLETES... as in best combination of speed, quickness, agility, power, leaping, longevity, cardio and SIZE...

which T-Mac falls short of compared to Lebron

maybe just as quick & agile...

    then we go by:

SPEED (not even close here for T-mac.... Lebron is by facts the fastest man in the NBA.. and that fact is 4.36 second 40 yard dash... fastest 40 yard dash ever is 4.2 sec.... so i dont think anybody is faster than that in the NBA... as evidenced by videos like these:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNaLIhzSYDI
and he can do that with the ball to:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhlO7Z-ozug)

    POWER/STRENGTH (not even arguable)

LONGEVITY/INJURY "PRONE'NESS" (dont even get me started)

CARDIO (much better cardio than T-Mac ever had)

SIZE (He does this at 6'9"-260 lbs... compared to a T-Mac in his prime 6'8"-220 lbs)

VERTICAL/LEAPING (44" inch vertical and a bit more of ONE LEG > 42" inches strict two foot leaper)
