ESPN has been counting down the Top 500 players as ranked by a 91 person panel at ESPN. It's been painfully slow, but it is down to the Top 20.

ESPN.com and the TrueHoop Network are ranking every NBA player -- and counting them down on Twitter (@NBAonESPN), from No. 500 to No. 1. As the rankings are announced, you can also find them here on the pages of ESPN.com.

How did we rank the players?

We asked 91 experts to rate each player on a 0-to-10 scale, in terms of "the current quality of each player."

LeBron [ESPN's bread and butter] will obviously be #1.. not saying he doesn't deserve it though. He definitely does have a case.


Wade or Dirk will be two.

Dwight, Durant and perhaps Kobe to round out the top 6.

After that it's CP3, Amare, Melo..

Gasol might again make a top 10 list.. which IMO he doesn't deserve.
