That's because he can't close out garbage teams in the postseason (Thunder, Rockets etc.) and has played a ton of games each postseason. The Lakers have played 21, 23, and 23 games the last 3 playoffs respectively, significantly more than MJ's Bulls. The only two postseasons Jordan's Bulls played more than 19 games, he scored 759 and 680 points.

He would have even more points if he didn't get swept in his early years

See what I did there too?

But we're not gonna go that route because it's not an MJ vs. Kobe thread it's just a thread appreciating great post season players

Jordan stans really wish their hero didn't quit on his team in the middle of his career and retired for the 2nd time at the thought of playing without the great Scottie Pippen.

    So sad.

This stat is about total 30 point games, not about the context of them.

If we are going to talk about context you need to add other information besides that...such as: how many of Kobe's game as a starter were played along side Shaq? Obviously it's going to take more games to get 30 points when you have a huge 7'1 advantage inside capable of scoring 40 points and dominating the paint every night in the playoffs.

Interesting, I figured he would be in the top 5 for sure before I read this thread. Any chance you know exactly how many Wilt had?

kobe has 48 30 point games in the playoffs without shaq in 82 games (2006-11 playoffs), which is 59% (48/82)
jordan has 109 30 points game out of 179 total game, which is 60%

kobe without shaq - 59% of his playoff games are 30+
    jordan 60%

Every 1st round MJ ever played in was a best of 5.

They didn't extend it to best of 7 that until 2003.
