I think we are a bit more accepting of Gerald's defensive failings because he's got the necessary physical attributes to be turned into a great defender, and the general consensus with Celtic fans that have seen him is that if he wants to be a good defender then with a few years of experience he will be. Redick, on the other hand. is an inch or two undersized for defending shooting guards and isn't an explosive athlete. It's hard to imagine him ever successfully covering a guy like Paul Pierce.

    Anyway, links:

    More charity work.

Antione says P may have to leave.
'Toine, you know you wish you were still a Celtic. You may be right here, but if danny had offered to pay you as much as or even slightly less than what you get from the Heat, You'd be in Green.

Fair enough, but no-one is drafting JJ Redick to someday successfully guard a Paul Pierce or similar all-star. JJ will be drafted to shoot 3's. We have to remember that there are still specialist players out there. Not everyone is the potential complete player that everyone is looking for. There is a niche need for jumpshooting in basketball, just the same as rebounding or defense. Redick should be drafted on his strengths, which is perimeter shooting. To which this year he is the best available.

You don't draft Redick for anything beyond his ability to shoot/score, sure, but that's why you don';t want to spend too high of a pick on Redick. The more limited a player is...

    Paul Pierce update.
May have surgery, wants the pick put in a deal for a great player, and has heard all of his little trade rumors.

    Brewer, Diaz, Noel, McGrath
I like Ronnie Brewer, but am unsure of his J with that arm problem. I love the rest of his game though (has some ballhandling skills and court vision, SG size but has played pg early on in college, very fast and a good defednder). If his J can fly in the NBA (it was good in college) then he'd compliment Delonte well.

    J-Will.
And a personal fave of mine, Lynn Greer. Played every single minute for Temple a few years ago. Tough guy.

Paid Globe staff writer doesn't even know the name of Celtics' GM.
Today, fans wait impatiently while general manager Danny Ainge shuttles players in and out of town, making it impossible for folks to grow attached to their team.
Go introduce yourself to Chris Wallace sometime, buddy...Danny is running the show, though. Somewhat interesting info:
Like the Bruins, the Celts collect data on their season ticket holders. The team's executive vice president, Rich Gotham, says those holders most likely are men 36 to 55 years old with families that have incomes over $100,000 and two or three cars in a garage. Most live in the western suburbs. Celtic fans "lead active lifestyles and are more likely to have interests such as running, jogging, tennis, and golf," Gotham says. "They are more likely to invest in the stock market and real estate. They also travel and donate to charities at a higher rate than the average Massachusetts consumer. They are less likely to hunt, sew, fish, or camp out."
    Antoine represnts!
Antoine Walker stood behind his assigned podium yesterday and answered all kinds of questions, just as he has done throughout the NBA Finals. Inevitably, the questions about Dwyane Wade kept coming.

What is it like to play with someone who can score 40-plus points while injured? How much do you appreciate having a teammate who can take over on offense like that? Does Wade just amaze you with his talent? At first, Walker patiently responded to each query. Then, he finally broke and sounded slightly annoyed.

``It's nothing new," said Walker. ``I played with Paul Pierce in Boston."
    You ****in' tell 'em, Toine!

A moment of silence, and possibly depression.

    Jay Williams worked out.
Athleticism is down, but Doc and Danny say he plays smart.

Watch this YouTube vid of Saer Sene.
You have to scroll down a little bit...and it's worth it. I'm starting to like this guy. He'll have the biggest wingspan in the NBA, and he can jump. And he's no beanpole, though not huge either. If Perk exchanged muscle for ups, you'd sort of have Sene. I admit, a highlight vid can be deceiving, bnut there's nothing fake about those long arms. If we trade down to get him I won't be mad at all. Might not even mind using the 7th pick on him, although that'd be unnecessarily high.

I guess Paul feels the same way I do. Trade that damn pick.

They really should get someone like Brevin for the pick though.

I brought up KMart, JO, and KG. I actually started a topic about trying to get KG.
