    Jan. 31st winner...

    Hasheem Thabeet

    28 minutes
    15 points (6-11 fg)
    11 rebounds
    10 blocks
    1 steal

A triple-double in college is rare, and usually will give a player an automatic win. 10 blocks is just ridiculous, especially in only 28 minutes. Calathes had a triple-double 3 days ago. He gets the win for that day. I haven't had much time to be on here lately and haven't kept up with college ball over the past week or so.

The triple-double was nice, but give me Jerel McNeal's line:

    26 points (5-10 3pt), 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks, and only 3 turnovers in 38 minutes of play.

I'm near tears whenever he plays. He should be in an Illinois uniform.

    I like the 3 blocks

That triple double is damn impressive, but give me Blair's 23 points and 22 rebounds with 11 offensive boards.

It was a day when all the stars were out. Saturday's are gonna be like that. Blair or McNeal could have won it easily, I just thought the 10 blocks were too much to pass up.

Because it's a nice, round number?

Sorry, gotta go with McNeal or Blair easily over Thabeet. Nothing against Thabeet, whose game would've won easily on many nights. If he had something like 22 points and 15 boards with the 10 blocks, that's one thing, but he didn't, and McNeal and Blair were on a completely different level.

The McNeal statline is great. The Blair one is too, just the 22 boards isn't a crazy thing for him. He's the best rebounder in the country, has 7 games of 15+ boards.

You see occasional triple-doubles in college. Antonio Anderson had one this year, Nick Calathes had one. But it's rare you see one with 10 blocks as the third "double". Especially in 28 minutes.

    Feb. 1st winner...

    Taylor Battle, Penn State

    40 minutes
    28 points
    11-19 field goal
    6 treys
    5 rebounds
    3 assists

in helping Penn State upset #9 Michigan State on the road.

He made the list anyway. Feb 3rd winner...

    Jerel McNeal, Marquette

    38 minutes
    26 points
    8-16 fg
    5-8 3fg
    6 assists
    4 rebounds
    5 steals
    4 blocks
    3 turnovers

in a 76-61 defeat of DePaul. I love how he's getting these blocked shots. He's averaging almost a block per game at only 6'3". He's improved so much from last year it's crazy.

    Runner up: Wayne Ellington- 29 mins, 34 points (12-15 fg, 7-9 3fg, 3-3 ft), 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 0 assists, 4 turnovers

    5-10 fg
    1 trey
    5-6 ft's

in an 81-61 victory over Tulane. Add this to the list of this year's triple double's.

Feb 8th winner is a tie.

    Dejuan Blair, Pitt

    32 mins
    32 points (14-23 fg)
    4-5 ft
    14 rebounds
    1 assist
    3 steals

    Dante Cunningham, Villanova

    35 mins
    31 points (12-15 fg)
    7-12 ft
    9 rebounds
    3 assists
    2 steals
    1 block

DeJuan was doing the damn thing as usual. The reason I couldn't make him a clear cut winner was because it came against a 8-16 DePaul team. He's easily the best rebounder in the nation and a load down low.

Dante did his statline against a quality opponent (#20 Syracuse). It seemed like he couldn't miss, and most of his shots were coming on jumpers. The most improved player in the Big East this year.
