Crazy Jordan Groupie: WTF? Only 33 mill. If Krause wasn't so selfish, he would have made the rosters into 8 players and give the remaining salary of the 4 cut players to MJ. Yet Laker fans complain about Mitch Kupchak and Jerry Buss.

It's insane how Pippen and Jordan FOR THEIR CAREERS made less than one of Arena's inflated contracts.

Jordan made a ton of money that year but that was payback for years of being underpaid while building that team into an NBA empire. Scottie should have been paid so much more for everything he brought to the team though.

Even at 30+mil, Jordan was underpaid for what he brought to the bulls and to the league.

Maybe bec pip signed a very long contract at the wrong time. Didnt Jim Mcilvaine had a higher salary than shawn kemp at one point?

if I remember right, pippen signed a large frontloaded contract with the bulls and wasnt happy towards the end (possibly rightfully so) but he signed it nonetheless.

A true testament to the coaching abilities of one Phil Jackson, who had to lead a roster that consisted of several guys who were severly underpaid for a majority of their careers. 9/10 coaches couldn't handle that sort of turmoil, and who knows what went on behind closed doors, but Phil got them to focus on the on-the-court stuff.

Obviously, Jordan deserved every penny of that salary in which he collected in 1997-98, but I'm sure that there was some jealousy, given that he made FAR more money than anyone else. Sure, they were thankful for what he brought to the table on a nightly basis, but there also existed a large intimidation factor, I'm sure, due to this wide gulf in salaries.

#1, check post 5 where I clearly said the same thing you just said right here.

#2, you completely missed the point. there are heart surgeons that make like 500k to 1 mill for a year. There job is infinitely more important than being a basketball player. So to say that any athlete deserves 33 million in one season is ridiculous.
