I've never seen this angle of Jordan's shot before. Amazing.

For all the harping old school fans do about hand checking... did anyone see any of the defenders using the hand check?

MJ catches the ball at 0:06 Ehlo tries to hand check but he's outta position, MJ blows by him.

0:32 Mj catches, Ehlo tries to check him is somewhat successful (MJ slaps his hand) redirects MJ to where his help is. Handcheck in that instance allowed Ehlo to remain in the play and actually forced MJ towards the help. Same possession MJ is doubled to the 3pt line, he drives at the 0:38 mark Ehlo hand checks once again, but he's outta position since he's running towards MJ, yet manages to slow him down with the hand check (MJ dishes for the assist).

That was just in that small clip. In both instances a slight hand check were enough to either slow down, re-direct, or stop MJ. This by a slower, weaker player. As we saw, the hand check while it didn't fully stop him all the time, it was enough to re-direct him towards the help, it was enough to keep the defender in front of him. But more importantly, he didn't get hit with a foul. Imagine if those were called? Now it's the 1st quarter and he does that in the beginning of the game, they call the fouls immediately. How are you gonna defend him now?

I'm talking hand check in the sense that a lot of ignorant, unreasonable old heads talk about it. You'd think it was some wall of impenetrable material that prevented anyone from driving into the key.

It was something I've always brought up. Its simply used as a redirecting method of defense, and its still as active today. You can't use it to push other players or hold them as many suggest. The whole soft image the league gets now is because technical and unsportsmanlike fouls are called more often. And for good reason; we don't want players injured.

I've always stated that a hand check won't stop you 100% of the time. But there is times in which it does stop you. If a player has an angle and can hand check you it throws you off if he knows how to use it. It does mess up your dribble, it does give them tremendous advantage. Which is a major reason why players back then dribbled with their back to the defender. Not that they couldn't dribble facing the defender, it was because it was hard for them to dribble when a player is hand checking and pushing them.

Today a player can put a hand on you, but they can't stop you from advancing. So if you have the ball and you're holding it, I can rest it on your hip. But as soon as you make a move towards the basket, I have to remove it or I'll get called with a foul.

Now remember, that was just a small clip that you saw. And Ehlo was out of position for most of those plays that you saw. Yet he managed to be effective defensively and stay in the play. Now imagine an entire game, there's gonna be instances in which MJ blows by him, there's gonna be times when Ehlo stops him. But for the most part, it allows Ehlo to be out of foul trouble and be in the play defensively, which alone is more than what today's players are allowed to do.

I've actually seen hand checking get missed by refs in today's era. And it's been effective in almost every instance to some degree. Naturally, it isn't to the same degree as it once was.

There's other vids online that clearly show MJ being completely stopped with a hand check.

Ehlo was a really good player. That entire Cavs team is underrated and overlooked.

Loved the reporter running up to Michael trying to get the first interview after the shot only to be shutdown by CBS.

That was really, really neat. Had floor level seats for the shot and got to an up-close first person view of running out on the court and up to Jordan for the celebration. Is there more footage like that out there of Jordan and/or other players after hitting a game winning buzzer beater?

That reporter that was spazzing out trying to Jordan was killing me. Kinda felt bad for him. When he finally was able to make his way to MJ, the CBS crew and reporter pushed him out of the way.

There's something really charming about young Michael Jordan. The guy is so young and genuine. Now he's an idiot bum that only cares about himself. Money and time haven't done him any favors.
