Utah's slowed-down, defense-first-last-and-always approach was mostly born of necessity.
Rubio/Favors/Exum weren't necessary they were choices and very bad ones
Throw in a solid bench with Royce O'Neale, Jeff Green, Ed Davis and wildcard Dante Exum, and you can see why this organization's offseason has been so hyped.
Exum? How about Niang!

They also brought in Emmanuel Mudiay as a good buy-low option. Bringing in 23-year-old former lottery pick for the minimum is a great low-risk strategy, but is also a clear signal to the other 23-year-old former lottery pick point guard on the roster, Dante Exum.
many clear signals for Exum. Hard to see him back next year if he sucks yet again. Have to pay Royce next year
The Jazz re-signed Exum to a three-year, $33 million deal just over a year ago and clearly still envision him as Conley's primary backup. Mudiay can help in the regular season, but the Jazz would have gone after a more established point guard if they were looking for a playoff contributor. With the necessary annual caveat of if he can stay healthy, the Jazz are relying on Exum to be their sixth man this season.
6th man?
On most nights, Ingles will draw the opposition's best wing scorer. He's proven capable of slowing down stars before, but a successful playoff run will see matchups against at least a couple of the seemingly dozens All-Star-caliber wings now in the West.

The Jazz are familiar with the risk of seeing their players take extra risk with their national teams, having watched Dante Exum begin his long history of injuries with a torn ACL after playing for the Australian National Team in the summer of 2015.
actually began with a sprained ankle in summer league
Perhaps more important than asking whether the Jazz should consider resting players is to ask whether they could. Do the Jazz have the necessary depth to sit their top players comfortably in games?
remains to be seen how deep they are but they have enough talent at the top and should be winning most of their games that they should be able to rest guys against bad teams
The Jazz have a deep guard rotation. After Conley and Mitchell, the Jazz have both Exum and Mudiay capable of playing starter-level minutes in a pinch. Additionally, Mitchell put up career-best numbers in the absence of Ricky Rubio at point guard last season, which could allow the Jazz to sit Conley and opt for Mitchell at the point guard position occasionally throughout the season.
Exum and Mudiay are deep starter types?
[QUOTE]If Conley proves capable of carrying an offensive load in the backcourt to replace Mitchell, the Jazz should again be able to start either Exum or Mudiay in the backcourt, as well as Royce O

Primary Playmaker
Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Dante Exum, Joe Ingles, Emmanuel Mudiay, Nigel Williams-Goss,
I'd say Mitchell, Conley and Bojan will be the primary playmakers. They should have the ball in their hands and pick and roll and spread the floor around them

David Locke: Pretty clear today Mike Conley trade to Utah Jazz lead both Ed Davis and Jeff Green to sign with Jazz. Green family and Conley family are going to Disney world next weekend together
