Default New NBA draft lottery odds

    New NBA draft lottery odds

This news came out over a year ago, but it goes into effect starting with the 2019 draft, so:

REMINDER: The NBA draft lottery odds have changed.

Now, the teams with the three worst records in the league have the same chance (14%) at winning the top overall pick. And the team with the 4th worst record is very close, at 12.5%.

To put this another way, there is an 86% chance that the team with the worst record in the league this season will NOT win the top overall pick.

    Team No. 1 Pick

    Team 1: 14.0%
    Team 2: 14.0%
    Team 3: 14.0%
    Team 4: 12.5%
    Team 5: 10.5%
    Team 6: 9.0%
    Team 7: 7.5%
    Team 8: 6.0%
    Team 9: 4.5%
    Team 10: 3.0%
    Team 11: 2.0%
    Team 12: 1.5%
    Team 13: 1.0%
    Team 14: 0.5%

I think it's wrong and they should do it the other way round.

The team that was the closest to making the playoffs should have the best chance to win the lottery. Why? They tried. They have a chance to be a good team. This should be rewarded.

that happened to the cavs twice. Kyrie was really the clippers pick and they only had like a 2% chance to win it, and when the cavs got won the pick that was wiggins they just missed out on the playoffs.

Derrick Rose was another notable low chance pick.

You jest, but you must realize that many fans aren't used to focusing on draft lottery odds enough to even do the simple math on this or be aware of the change.

This means a team that is genuinely bad--a team that tries its hardest all season long and still ends up with the worst record--will get no help from the draft next offseason. You gonna have several teams that will never dig out of a hole for YEARS and that no free agents will ever want to go to

    Silver is a complete idiot.

He will do EVERYTHING in his power to try to prove these new odds work.

There is no way he lets the team with the worst record get the first pick.

It is all because he wants his gambling revenue and he knows that can't happen if teams a trying to lose on purpose.

But if you want parity in the league punishing the worst teams for being bad is not the way.

Start looking at highlights of Romeo Langford. Kid can ball.

I've seen him in a couple of games. From Indiana right? He's good but he doesn't WOW me. I'll take Barrett if they don't get Zion. Keep reading about this kid Morant, never seen a game or highlight of his.

Yeah Langford is from Indiana. From the few clips I've seen, he'd be a perfect replacement for Hardaway, and can actually take it to the rim.

Morant is a beast. High flyer like Westbrook. But he's a PG and I'd like to either keep DSJ or sign Kyrie.

Honestly, I think we end up with either Zion or Barrett and would not complain either way.
