    Default Improving The Hawks

The Hawks need to start doing like the Spurs, Warriors and and Celtics and start using the D-League. They always manage draft good players and to find players in the D-League who can start, come off the bench as scorers, or lockdown defenders.

It would have been nice to see Keith Benson, Solomon Jones, Mario West, Acie Law and Randolph Morris in the D League!! Benson never even got a chance and he and Solomon could have potentially been nice athletic back ups. Randolph had awesome skills but Zero Passion. If Acie would have been able to spend 2 or 3 years developing he could have been the great back up point guard that the hawks are missing. Mario had the passion and defense! What if he was able to develop ball handling skills and/or a 3 point shot?

There have been a lot of 'what ifs' with our drafts. Now is the perfect time to change that and start drafting smart, drafting to develop or just trade the draft picks.

If the Spurs, Warriors, Celtics, and the Knicks getting Jeremy Lin from the D-League can build contendings teams so can the Hawks.

The Atlanta Hawks have spoken with Danny Ferry about becoming the club's next general manager, according to league sources. Ferry, currently the vice president of basketball operations for the San Antonio Spurs, would replace Rick Sund as the Hawks' lead basketball decision maker. ESPN.com

Ferry, who built the Cleveland Cavaliers into one of the league's top teams as the club's GM from 2005-2010, is one of the most respected and coveted basketball minds in the league and is also being courted by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers have spoken to Ferry about replacing Rod Thorn in their front office. ESPN.com

Is Al Horford going to be the full-time center? This is something that has to be established immediately. If he is, then you need to be playing FAST and run the floor.

If Horford is not going to be playing center, then he better be traded. Because Josh Smith is not a 3 and that shit would be bad. What is their direction?

I know the draft is light years away but here are some PGs the Hawks should keep their eyes just in case things with Teague and Harris doesn't work out next summer. CJ McCollum, Isaiah Canaan, Elijah Johnson, Ray McCallum, and Kenny Boynton.
