Doesn't really matter since his overall scoring increases in the playoffs from the regular season anyways.

Wrong. Ray Allen put up 51 on the Bulls in 2009

Dirk got 50 later in the playoffs in 2006, and Ray Allen got over 50 in 2009.

I don't really know why this is a surprise tbh. LeBron is probably the greatest scorer whose scoring is not the best part of his game. He is not a scorer, and if he was ever going off for 40+ he would start passing more to share the sugar.

Because it's become an ISH fact that anyone who doesn't slurp LeBron loves Kobe and vice versa.

that game should have shut everyone the hell up. He was a one man wrecking crew, and dismantled that Celtics team all by himself. I was in utter shock watching how he just killed it in that game, mouth agape and wide eyed

but its Lebron. he gonna have haters.

Huh? That's still not 50 points don't see how that has anything to do with this thread. There's a few players that have put up similar statlines

    This...

That includes regular season games, when Lebron is on such fire to be on pace for a 50++++++ point game teams just succumb immediately, he always sits out the remainder of the game with a blowout lead...

This is because he usually has also somewhere close to or over 10 assists while doing it, including assists that dont show on his statsheet (recipient gets fouled under the basket, freethrows)... which is extra 20-40 points on the boxscore for his team, then we have the defensive side.... What Lebron does overall when everything goes well is just to much for opponents, a 50 point triple double with excellent defense is much more impactful on a game than 70-0-0 and zero defense game....

He simply does whatever it takes to win and secure the win, then just takes the foot of the gas, goes to bench or if he is still in he will keep his teammates happy instead of statpadding his points (he is a point-forward afterall)...

Lebron is not a "pure scorer" that way either, like Kobe or Durant, those guys think "shoot" 24-7 and would NEVER take the foot of the gas when on fire, no matter what the lead is and no matter what teammate is open. He has that ability (and even better), but doesnt have that mindset or more like doesnt want that mindset, he is way to unselfish and has the role as a point-forward... and he should keep it that way as he impacts the game better than what a "Score only" player would do anyways...

I think i kindof also explained why i am such a fan of his game, he is just playing the game the right way.

Again, are you people seriously discussing this like it means something?

Lebron has games of 49, 48, and 47 in the playoffs.

50 is not magical. And I can't believe people with enough intellect to type are discussing 50 like it is indeed magical.

And by the way, nobody besides Iverson has eclipsed 51 playoff points since Jordan retired. So, yes, you guys seriously just had a huge discussion about why Lebron never scored 1 more point. Congratulations.

50 point playoff games from others besides Iverson, since Jordan retired:

    Ray Allen: 51
    Kobe: 50
    Dirk: 50
    Vince: 50
    Malone: 50

Furthermore, if you move the bar back to 45, Lebron is in second place since Jordan retired.

Players who have scored 45 plus points in the playoffs since Jordan retired:

    Iverson: 7 times
    Lebron: 6
    Kobe: 5
    Dirk: 3
    Shaq: 2
    Ray Allen: 2
    Vince: 1
    Wade: 1
    T-mac: 1
    Malone:1
    Dwight: 1
    Wells: 1
    Nash: 1

...and for those who are still caught up on 50, if our numerical system was base 9 instead of base 10, the list above would represent the amount of times all of these guys scored 50 (since 50 - or whatever it would be called - would then be 45).

I hope anyone who has posted in this thread now feels like a complete idiot.

*Pettit, Baylor, West, Barry, and Jordan are the only players to score 50+ in a Finals game.
Lebron totally changes if he has 20 plus points in the first half. He becomes a pass first player. And he's been consistent like this his whole career and for his team to win it's usually the better move. If Lebron went into full scorer's mode, like I'm sure all of the guys above did, he would definitely be right there with Jordan already in terms of 50 point playoff games. Lebron has seven games already where he was over 40 with seven or more assist.
