Not done with it yet, still a chance to flip them again + Marvin Williams.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.
    True

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?
Enes Kanter, guy will hopefully turn into an offensive beast.

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?
TRIVIA: What tv show is that quote from
Biendrins has often been touted as a confidence guy who needed a fresh start to thrive again, so hopefully he can be a good backup. Doubt Jefferson gets much run behind Williams and Rush.

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Favors, Hayward, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.
That's the hope, if they all reach their potential then they could be a chance.

What else was available? It does seem like a lot to pay for a couple of 2nd round picks. Its not like it hamstrung them, since they are expiring contracts. And, would you rather they throw money at monta ellis? It was relatively smart to stand pat.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.
He will be a decent pg, but not on either of those levels IMO.

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?
    Huh, probably Kanter.

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?
TRIVIA: What tv show is that quote from?
    Probably rush.

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.
    False

The Jazz is fine. It makes more sense than the lakers and I dont see people crowing them about it. SLC is actually a pretty hip little city.

    But, if I must,
    the Utah Salt Flats!
    the Utah Bishops!
    the Utah Bees (beehive state)

It was 2 1st round picks and 3 2nd round picks, not just the seconds.

oh, thats a pretty good haul for renting out your cap space for a year.

I am probably going to go to a couple of games up in SLC this year.

Yep, an they did need some veteran bench depth on the team so they have some use as players too. Also with only $17 million commited salary for next year they could potentially trade them again this year for a guy like Rudy Gay or Amare Stoudamire so those teams can get out of the last year of those terrible deals $20 million a year deals early (and save the same again in tax payments) and the Jazz can get a few more draft picks for taking them.

I just wanted to ask bagel, and other big heads - are we going to do the power rankings? Yes, I wanted it even before preseason, since it's been a lot of changes and it might be fun to ran those teams.

Hmmmm.....you mean like a season prediction thread or just Power Ranking 30 teams at the moment?

I never thought of it having these two points of view.

Well, you have to take the chemistry and cohesiveness into account, because otherwise it's just which roster amounts to best overall team rating on 2k14 or something. But then discount the injuries and such, and count on what teams are right now... There are moves pending and teams have tryout players that are going to be cut, but it's never completely out of question right, even during the season... I don't know what to do with Westbrook though.

Very interesting team. Their starters are all under 25 and they have a ton of cap space coming up. They will probably pay Favors and Hayward a lot, but they should be able to make at least one big move. Plus they'll have a high pick this year, plus the picks from Golden State. They can make a move for a star if one hits the market.

I would have kept Milsap myself. He fit in nicely where you still could have given Kanter and Favors plenty of minutes. THey do have Gobert up front too now.

Only thing is I"m not sure who they could trade for. They need a star caliber SG who can score and defend. No easy task obviously.

Yes they should have kept Millsap and Demarre.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.
    No. Neto maybe.

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?
    Kanter certainly

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?
    Rush if he gets healthy.

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.
No but the with the high lottery pick they get next year by masquerading as an NBA team this year with that line-up they may have a shot.

--What else could they have gotten? Easier to say they could have got this or that, but we don't know what the market was. Also, Rush is a quality basketball player. Any chance he resigns? I'm guessing not.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, ----Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.
--If great = Stockton or D-Will level then I severely doubt it. I think he will be about as good as Kemba will become, which is a quality starter in this league. Except the NBA is so stacked right now at the PG position that a quality starter is slightly below average overall.

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?
--Probably Kanter. It has to be Kanter or Favors and I have never seen the Favors high school hype (next KG).

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?
--Well Utah didn't let go Jefferson and Millsap to give Beans all the minutes. RJ is just a bad basketball player now. Rush by default? If he's healed well, I think he's better than any Utah wing who isn't white and does Subway commercials.

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.
--False. I don't think Burke or Burks develop into more than average NBA players and your backcourt can't be average if you want to contend in this NBA.

I don't think so. Expiring contracts are worth a lot and will be great assets for the team this season.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.

I believe he will be a very good PG in the league. Not to a Stockton or D-Will level, but a good point guard.

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?

I'd go with Derrick Favors, dude will be an absolute beast if he puts it all together. Kanter is a good pick too.

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?

Brandon Rush is a great player, I'm really high on him and think he's a terrific role player. He will have a good season and a lot of teams will take notice on the impact he can make on a game.

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Favors, Hayward, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.

It's a terrific young unit and for them all to be able to grow and improve together is nothing but good for them. It will take a while though, but they have the potential to be a very good team in the future.

    1. Jazz take on expiring contracts of Biedrins, Jefferson, and Rush for 2 first rounders and 3 second rounders. Should the Jazz have done more with their tremendous cap space?

no i dont think so. they decided to bottom out, and try to add some more young talent to their core through the draft. they have some nice young pieces right now, but no cant-miss type prospect. they could get that kind of prospect if they land in the top 5 picks of this coming draft.

    2. TRUE or FALSE: In the tradition of John Stockton and Deron Williams, Trey Burke will develop into another great Jazz Point Guard.

he will become an average starter. maybe a jameer nelson type pg. a solid caretaker, not great at any one aspect, but solid at most things.

    3. Alec Burks, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter: Which of these players has the most untapped potential?

i guess favors, since hes so athletic. if he had a great passing pg, maybe he could be a beast in the pick and roll, but i dont think burke will ever become that level of a passer.

kanter has a lot of potential too. good touch, big wide body, he could become their best offensive player.

    4. "HE'S ON THE JAZZ, MAN! HE'S ON THE JAZZ.": Which "Warrior" will most take advantage of this new opportunity. Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, or Brandon Rush?

definitely brandon rush. hes a good nba player, the other two are washed up.

if he stays healthy and performs, i could see the jazz trading him mid-season to a contending team for a pick

    5. TRUE or FALSE: Burke, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Kanter: If Jazz keep this fivesome together, eventually they will develop into a Championship contending unit.

false. i think those guys would be a great supporting cast, like say if you could have them surrounding a jabari parker-type guy, then you could contend.
