I'm sure some players might have used a form of anabolics as far back as the 70's... Steroids have been around for a long time. I think steroid usage boomed in the 90's. Guys like Karl Malone, who was still big when he was younger, but blew up. David Robinson with ripped muscles and steroid photo shop like appearance. Michael Jordan himself came back looking larger and muscular, many think Grover gave him his special sauce so to say. In fact, some argue Jordan used it much earlier. He had rapid hair loss, one season and the next it was gone. Shaq definitely used PEDS. I think HGH made it's way into sports in the late 90's.

Also there apparently was a 6 year stretch in the 2000's where the NBA threw out pretty much 99% of positive results. I do believe this to be true. Some visible physiques from this stretch... Dwight Howard and Lebron James. Dwight clearly has hopped off the PEDs.

They actually didn't even test for PEDS in season til 1999. Yes. You heard me right.

There was one season in the early 00s, might've been before the '02-'03 season where Bean put on like 15-20 lbs of muscle. That's when he started having some knee issues... which led to the Colorado fiasco.

Wouldn't be shocked to learn he dabbled in PEDs then, along with a lot of the league from the late 80s-early/mid 00s.

And Wade was/is definitely abusing HGH. His jaw's on some tell tale heart bullshit.
