Where did I say they should? I simply explained why they seem hapless without him.
Football is a flow sport - Barca is a rhythm team - to develop consistent output from the attacking players you need to give them the ball consistently. Messi is the only Barca player who gets that.
Xavi and Iniesta will do what they do - with Messi - without Messi - they will dominate possession and put the opposition under pressure....Iniesta will even work his way into dangerous positions and create the space for others, but it still hinges on what forwards can do.
They won a world cup and a pair of Euros without Messi - Del Bosque doesn't have no Magic formula - Spain has a much better defense than Barca - but fundamentally they do the same things. The forwards are also more comfortable in their roles.
