Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
I agree. If they think he's that much better than everyone else, just take him. If you trade down and cross your fingers, you're flirting with disaster.
If they love Embiid that much, just take him. I won't complain if they do. I do think he's far and away the best prospect in the draft. I wouldn't have the stones to take him first overall because I like both Wiggins and Parker too and back/foot problems with bigs are a big deal, but that doesn't mean a GM with bigger stones can't roll the dice.
I just don't want to see us foolishly trade out of the Top 3 and miss the boat on the three best players in the draft.
OK looks like we're on the same page here.
After the news of the Embiid injury first broke, I was also disappointed because I thought there was no way he was worth a top 5 pick.
But...
I believe this comes down to more than what you can see on game tape. I believe the Cavs see something very special in Embiid as a person. He is not the type to let something deter him from reaching his potential. In fact, it will probably have the opposite effect on his game long term. He'll learn to play smarter and work harder to protect himself from injuries.
Obviously to still pick Embiid is risk, but that's okay. Greatness demands taking risks tho.

As usual, Sam Amico straddling the fence.
Sense is, despite buzz, Cavs not close to deal they like. Told they could be really busy Thursday night, "or it may be nothing."
How about this, though?
Amico:
Also, Cavs have discussed Dion Waiters with team in top 10. Opposing team unconfirmed at moment.

Interesting note to Dion Waiters talk: Source close to Waiters tells @FOXSportsOH that Waiters thinks he or Kyrie Irving will be traded.
Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
I think CLE really screwed themselves by not trading Waiters while his stock was higher and possibly drafting a replacement for him last year instead of Bennett. Will be interesting to see what they can get for him now.

Can't imagine his stock ever being higher than it is right now. He was one of the lone bright spots for the Cavs this year. Much improved.

You're off base on Dion. When he excels on another team, we'll revisit the Dion hate. You can guarantee that.

The general Dion Waiters narrative is very confusing to me. He has been virtually step-for-step with Brad Beal in their two respective years so far in the league, but everyone acts as though Beal is the next big thing and Waiters is a total bust.
I don't know if it is a Cavs thing or what, but Dion looked really good last year... there were large portions of the season where he was the best player on the team. He was hitting GWs with the Cavs still in playoff contention, taking over games, etc.
But, everyone has just assumed he is worthless. I don't get it. Group think. :confusedshrug:

I thought it was his attitude. To be honest I don't think waiters or beal are going to be amazing players. They will be solid but not great imo and I don't recall seeing anyone hyping up beal anymore than waiters, if anything i've seen more people trying to hype up waiters which is what may have led to people bagging him out for silly reasons.

Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
I think the Cavs are mega scared theyre going to draft a bust again..
Unless theyre trading the #1 pick for Melo or bran just take the best player available in the draft.. Wiggins/Parker.. Then sign some vets they need badly.

Dion just put up 16 3 3 on 43/37/68 splits as a 22 year old.
He's already "solid", as you say

No, I actually think they have a plan they they are trying to execute to their maximum benefit.
Thanks for adding nothing, tho.

Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
They trade Dion I hope this sh!t blow up in their face and Kyrie doesn't sign max deal, and they traded their number 1 draft pick for freaking Derrick Favors. Then Lebron resigns with the Heat. The team would be back to square 1.
-
Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
Just trade it to Phily for the #3 and Young.
Draft Embiid and put Young on SF
-
Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
They need to be drafting Wiggins if Embiid is really that badly hurt. They need that SF shored up.

Well you sure don't trade your number 1 for freaking Favors and some picks. You don't trade Dion when he was freaking better then Kyrie last year. Then on top of that Kyrie is always freaking hurt every season.

Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
What is Utah's cap situation? If they could absorb Jack, and Thompson without taking anything back, I would seriously consider it. If not then fug em.

No pic of Broussard's multiple sauces yet? I am disappoint.

I agree with the first two points, but why would you phrase it "I hope this blows up in their faces" when talking about the team you're supposed to be a fan of? Wouldn't your hope be that whatever happens doesn't blow up in their faces?

Chance of griffin trading this pick slim and none.

Nope...If they're gonna play stupid games they should get stupid prizes. Back to square 1 for complicating things...when all they could have done was draft Wiggins or Parker and call it a night. You want a big man get him in FA not some over priced Jazz player that can't even out rebound TT and some picks. He would ruin the cap space.

Re: Cleveland listening to offers for 1st pick from Jazz, Sixers, Wolves, Magic
I heard they're trading the number 1 pick to Miami for James Jones and pick #56. Good deal for the Cavs. They need a shooter.
Multiple sources.
