Lakers with another quality win w/o Kobe

Yet another great team taken down by the Kobeless Lakers.

I'll call it now. Without Kobe this team is good enough to win a series in the playoffs. Dude was holding the team back all year with his shit defense and cancerous style of play.

If Kobe was playing I would take SA in 5 games. Without him I'll take LA. LA can actually play some defense without that one-dimensional player playing 45 minutes a game.

Kobe brings nothing to a team unless hes dominating the ball and he was never good enough this year to warrant having the ball. Dude brings no intangibles to a team, no spacing, no defense, no hustle, nothing except for high usage rates and high volume shooting. Replace Kobe with a guy like Steph Curry and LA is one of the top 2 seeds in the conference easily.

This is easily supported by LAs record without Kobe where they have proven to be successful.

The Lakers had gone something to the effect of 28-12 in their last 40, and won 5 of their last 8 before the Kobe injury.

They had also been leaps and bounds better defensively on the perimeter since Nash got injured 9 games ago.

But, you knew this already, didn't you April 2013 imbecile poster.

Sadly, this is something we've known for quite some time now.

The difference is Lakers have now a healthy Pau for first time in 2 years.

Pau can play hard (even at defense) when healthy, and makes the other big better (if his 11 assist is no not enough ask Odom, and even Bynum).

Healthy or motivated? It looks to me he is just jacked to not be playing with Kobe.

Exactly.

Kobes play is irrelevant. LA only goes as far as their frontcourt goes and without Kobe demanding his 20+ shots a game these guys are getting much more involved down low which translates to wins.

Despite this era of Lakers basketball being the "Kobe era" the strength of the team has ALWAYS been the frontcourt. Prime Shaq? More useful than all other bigman combos in the league bar none. Gasol-Odom-Bynum? No team had a comparable frontcourt to that except for a 100% healthy Celtics frontline that LA never had to face.

Dwight-Gasol is the best bigman combo in the league and if these guys are able to play to their strengths LA will always be a tough draw no matter who else is on the roster. If your not going to exploit these matchups though as LA had done with Kobe in the lineup, the mismatches mean nothing.

Does anyone remember Shaqs line? "If the Big Dog doesn't get fed he isn't protecting the house". Its a conceited line, but for anyone thats ever played basketball as a bigman they can tell you that you feel a little extra motivation to play defense when your team incorporates you offensively. Also doesn't hurt that Jodie Meeks is making Kobe look like the chair from Yi Yi Jians draft workouts right now.

You honestly try waaaay too hard. I expect you to crawl back under the rock you came from if the Lakers lose to the Spurs

Cool.

And I expect you to root for LA to lose despite your claims as a "laker fan". LA winning games without Kobe on the team is the typical kobe player only fans worst nightmare. :oldlol:
