Is there a realistic Pau Gasol trade?
 

He is an expiring contract, he's still an above average big man. But not worth 20 million.

I can see a team taking him, but they will want to offer the Lakers one bad contract + one player the Lakers can actually use. And the Lakers may have to add Earl Clark to make it attractive.

What kind of trade fits the above scenario?

I can see ATL trading J. Smith for Pau just to get rid of Josh's contract while only taking on Pau's contract for one season to clear up cap room.

Also, though I love Pau and hope he retires a Laker, I'd be pissed if Mitch offered Earl Clark in ANY trade. The guy is young, athletic, knows his role, energetic, and plays with a confidence that many players lack. He can be a bright spot in the Lakers' future, and if his few 20 pt games this season proves anything, I think once Kobe, Nash & Pau are gone, Clark will be a legit 2nd scoring option behind D12.

Smith is expiring this year though. Are you suggesting a sign and trade to LA for Pau?

I could've seen a deal before this year's all star break, but not now. They could S&T him for better than Pau.

I would've loved a trade involving Calderon to the Lakers, but that's not happening anymore.

Even if the Hawks wanted to do that deal, the new CBA won't allow the Lakers to acquire a player by sign-and-trade.

Pau on the Cs + the improving Jeff Green, give KG and Pierce another shot to win it all for the next two years. (if re-sign).
