good in motivating and driving talent

they were sound defensively last season, which counts for a lot

coaching is motivating and driving talent, Del Negro has done all that.

No dude.. just no. Add a coach who actually knows how to run plays and they go from 4th best offense to 1st. Add a good coach like McMillian who knows defense and they aren't the 18th ranked defense. It seems like Clippers don't know how to play 48 minutes of defense. They always lockdown in 4th quarter but you can't rely on that. Can't let a team torch you in first 3 quarters and always be trying to fight back.

Vinny is a BIG problem due his inability to have the team prepared mentally in advance. Not to mention his rotations suck ass. The ONLY good about Vinny is his teams never quit. He always gets teams playing hard which is a big part of all the comebacks. A good coach would have the Clippers blowing more teams out and not having to come back from 15 down to begin with.

If a team is playing good team defense, coach deserves the props! Clippers defense has been amazing despite some terrible 1 on 1 defenders like Blake, DJ, Mo, Foye etc.

Vinny isn't bad atleast defensively

With the talent (even defensively) they should be a lot better. Team is winning IN SPITE of Vinny... not related to his coaching at all.

Yup. It's the leadership of CP3+Billups+Butler that's carrying this team. Those guys actually usually ignore Vinny during timeouts. He's useless. Only thing I give him props for is benching DJ for most of games lately because DJ is worthless.

he can develop young talent decently, but not when the team is competing for a championship. a lottery team could use him.

i cant take this thread seriously. we gonna act like this man didnt have evans and blake on the floor in at the end of game 4 up by 2 needing to have all good FT shooters on the floor to ice the game? and then he finally realizes his mistake calling timeout only AFTER mo caught the inbounds pass correctly and would have iced the game himself?

He's a good coach to develop young talent, which is why he was a decent choice for the Clippers at the time, but after that happens every team should look to upgrade. He should be gone next season.

Outside of substitutions and timeouts, he's a pretty solid coach. But like Nightprowler said...he should probably have a different job now.:lol
