Isn't that the excuse for when you are out injured.
Rose still gets it to this day.
And Kobe played much better than Rose did in his return.
And he's 36.... not 26, like D-ROOOOOOOOOOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kobe wasn't out for as long as Rose was when he came back the first time.

He was out for over 10 months. He couldn't even shake off the rust from the achilles injury before re-injuring and not playing for another year...and he's older.

So at what point do you get the rust excuse?
1 year 3 months? What is the cutoff.
Rose in 2012 was already injured in the regular season, only playing 39 of 66 games.... Then missed the Playoffs in 2012...
Then missed the ENTIRE 2013 season....
Then came back in 2014 to play 10 games and miss the ENTIRE remainder of the season...
He has basically missed the last 2 full seasons with another short injury cut season before that, and the last 3 full post-seasons....
Insane.
I guess it's because people attribute his level of play more to his age and history of injuries more than just not having played for a while.
Kobe is held to a top 5 GOAT standard. Even after 19 years.
Nothing new and well deserved.
:oldlol: OP catching feelings.
How did Kobe play "much better" than Rose? 19 points on 35% is something to be proud of now? :biggums:
You must have REALLY low standards for supposedly top 10 all time players.

Top 5.
He looked solid. You can tell that his skills are still there and of course his moves are some of the greatest we've ever seen. He's gonna have yet another Kobe season, 25/5/5.
What we saw last night was just average Kobe, no need to use the rust excuse
Top 5.
Not even top 5 SG,
alltime or currently

Criticizing a poor shooting performance for any player in his 19th season after having missed 10 months of "real" basketball due to a major injury, amounts to trolling IMO. If Kobe puts up 20ppg ~44fg% this season he will more than exceed my expectations. While obviously never being anywhere near a professional athlete myself, I am a year older than Kobe, and I know how the body regresses after a certain age. I can't do some of the stuff I could do at age 30.
