Greece got a wild card? So basically like if Utah would be getting a playoff spot in the West for a few million bucks?

Well...at least Finland and Nigeria can't rape them this time.

Thoughts on who might get Senegal's place if they can't pay off their debts before the draw?

World Cup is stronger competition than Olympics

On Saturday 1 February, the Central Board will make its decision and announce the four national teams that will receive the wild cards and complete the line-up for its flagship event, which will take place in Spain from 30 August to 14 September 2014.

Following the board's decision, the Official Draw of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place on Monday 3 February. The 24 teams will be drawn in four Preliminary Round groups of six teams each. Those games will be played in the cities of Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Granada and Seville. The Final Round will then be staged in Barcelona and Madrid.

Fifteen national teams from across four FIBA zones met the 30 October 2013 deadline to submit their applications for the wild cards to complete the line-up for Spain 2014.

I don't see why Euroleague would report us for abuse. I mean come on, it's just a message board.

Real abuse is looking like this...

Ouch! That's what abusing looks like.

In all honesty if greece can actually stay in the comp he will likely be one of the top performing 4-5 players in the tournament.

Euroleague won't catch him, he can run very fast...as athletic as healthy Rose and Westbrook combined. Didn't stop Dragic from taking a monumental dump on team Greece though.

The first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place in 2014 in Spain (view host cities).

The term 'World Cup' is known by people all around the world and resonates in different languages: Copa del Mundo, Coppa del Mondo, Coupe du Monde.

The new name reflects the prestige that FIBA's tournament has as a premier international competition and allows for it to be recognised as what it truly is: one of the biggest global sporting events, along with the FIFA World Cup, the Rugby World Cup and the Cricket World Cup.

The inaugural FIBA World Championship took place in Argentina in 1950 with the host nation prevailing in the final against the USA.

Since the first staging of the tournament in Buenos Aires where six teams did battle, the field has grown exponentially to feature the 24 best teams from around the world.

Yugoslavia have won gold in five of the 16 editions of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, while the USA account for four and the Soviet Union for three.

Since 1998, the winners of the FIBA Basketball World Cup get to celebrate their crowning moment by holding aloft the Naismith Trophy, named after the inventor of basketball, Dr James Naismith.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup has been the centre stage for some of international basketball's biggest stars - from Oscar Schmidt and Nikos Galis to Pau Gasol and Kevin Durant and many in between.

Exactly. Euroleague doesn't have to come to V-Span...V-Span will come to Euroleague all by himself.

My contacts in Arkansas have sent me inside informations. Looks like Euroleague will travel with his trailer home all the way to Europe and make Spanoulis an offer he can't refuse...
