Discuss various recruiting classes and which college basketball teams got the best sets of players for the 2006-07 season
ohio state has the best recruiting class, greg oden, mike conley, david lightly and daqaeun cook. UNC has brandon wright, wayne ellington, williams graves and tywon lawson coming in. Next Year is going to be a fun year of college basketball
UNC had the best class and Ohio State was second, KU also did well.
If I'm not mistaken Uconn and DUke round out the top 5.
Uconn'z recruits are severely overrated this year.
Thomas and Henderson compliment McRoberts very well. IMO K should develop a fast paced system like Champion Tarheels. All these guys are pretty athletic.
My team (Nova's) got a decent recruiting class with Pena and the others but for now we need to rely on Sumpter's return.
Uconn is picking up an athletic big SF in StanRob, an extremely athletic scrubby PG in Wigginz, a couple of bigmen in Thabeet/Mandeldove, and another athletic PF type in Kelly.
That's a sweet team right there combined with Adrien's aggressiveness, and Austrie's control. PS watch for Marcus Johnson to explode.
That would be an epic series, but the Spurs will be outed by the Thunder.
I wonder if Pitt's 5 star recruit will actual make it through the season or make an impact (I'm looking at you Dante Taylor).

New Wiggins Mixtape
Oh lordy, he's an amazing talent. Tighten up the handle a little and he has the physical and mental tools to be an all-timer.
Post that shit on the NBA board.

seems like you'd be the guy to ask, what is the latest on him reclassifying?
All signs point to yes. Apparently he's taking the course load so he can graduate after this year of high school if he pleases.
I don't understand why he would do that and then not reclassify.
It seems obvious that he will reclassify and then head to Kentucky. I'm not hearing any vibes from the FSU camp, although UK fans think they will land everyone so... For all I know, he already has a silent verbal to FSU. But I doubt it.
Is Jabari headed to MSU?
Is Jabari headed to MSU?
I think that's where he winds up. Assuming they all stick around (which they won't, specifically Dawson), Harris/Dawson/Parker/Payne/Appling is a lineup that'd make Cal jizz.
Anyway, there's a this kid Josh Jackson outta Detroit. Class of 16, next big prodigy. He's 6'6 as a freshman so it could definitely be a case of his peers just needing to catch up physically, but it's not like he's a post, the kid's a 14 year old 6'6 wing that can put the ball on the floor with either hand in traffic.

 Same age as me.
 Same age as me.
I'm sure there's stuff on YouTube. He went against Eron Gordon (Eric's little brother) a week or so ago I believe. Eron's REALLY good. They didn't even compare.
any of you guys know what happened to mitch mcgary? espn and yahoo both have him outside their top 20s right now, only like 6 months ago he was top 5. did he get hurt or something? why the big slide in rank?
Because he is white, duh.

He got absolutely stomped on by another top recruit. It was Noel if I remember right.
He rose up the rankings too fast. He went from out of the top 100 to in the top 5 like nothing. Like I said before, scouts have a major problem with jumping on (or jumping off) a player's bandwagon and they snowball the hell out of their ranking. McGary was never a top 5 player; just like most of the players who were top 10 early in the rankings that drop to 70+ at some point are better than 80.
Look at Kuran Iverson. He goes from around the top of the class, to falling to the bottom of the top 100, and now he's going to end up in the Mc'D area. They too quickly dropped him. I bet you JP Tokoto ends up better than the 70th best in his class.
Tokoto is forrealz. i saw the Wisconsin Playground Warriors at my Vegas tournament.

He got out of podunk Chesterton and scouts saw him for the first time and got hard over it. Then he went through another summer against top guys and realized he''s a guy that should be in the 50s, Derek Willis style, just not as severe a drop because of his size.
If we can get Demetrius Jackson out of Indiana and away from Kansas I will love John Groce forever. Illinois hasn't had a player like him in a loooong time.

We won't even need Jackson if we sign Cat Barber.

he got wrecked in one of the camps by a number of big man prospects, which leads many scouts (and myself included) that he hasn't really improved that much since last year
Tokoto is forrealz. i saw the Wisconsin Playground Warriors at my Vegas tournament.
nba athleticism, sure.
he needs to get stronger. he needs to work on his jumper. and he definitely needs to work on his ballhandling. otherwise he's just derozan 2.0

Barber to NC State. I'd love for Kansas to strike out with both Barber and Jackson. Hopefully Jackson commits to Illinois and Kansas is left out in the cold.
Did you hear the rumors about Barber?
He goes to visit Louisville (very much in his recruitment at the time) about a week back. Thing are fine and then he gets caught stealing a girl's cell phone and/or about $1500 worth of crap from the players. :lol
Pitino then informed Self and Grant (KU and Bama also near the top of his list) and they dropped their offers.
Apparently State was his only option left. Because Gottfried doesn't care about that kind of stuff? I mean Purvis still isn't illegible. To be fair, Purvis graduated top of his class. Of course, he was the only graduating student in his class...
It also makes sense about Barber. He gave no implication that he would be deciding this soon. At the very least, he would take his visits. I heard a lot of rumors about him and Troy Williams pairing up at Bama. Then suddenly he commits on the spot to NC State? And this is a top 10 kid too... Something happened.
I don't know about any of that, haven't been following his recruitment.
Barber's sanctions waiting to happen. But that's nothing new for NC State. Jackson's going to end up at Illinois, just may take a minute. Good for them I guess, just hope it doesn't influence Bates-Diop. But it will.
Told you Groce was a good hire.
Anyone heard of Lewis Sullivan?
Parker added UConn. Guess Ollie can talk a good game?

I liked the hire when it was made, I just think fans were still getting over the rejection by two other coaches.
As far as Demetrius Jackson, I don't know. From what I'm reading it's down to ND or Illinois (Kansas was a player), and both fan bases seem to think he's theirs. We'll see what happens, but ND has been recruiting him a bit longer. He's #1 on my wish list. Illinois hasn't had an athletic point guard like him in some time.
In more good news, Xavier Rathan-Mayes, #25 in the 2013 class according to rivals, is on campus for his official this weekend. It's down to us, UConn, and FSU for him. Groce has been pretty impressive in getting in on some of these kids in a relatively short period of time. Definitely has the fan base excited.

Well ****...whiffed on both.
Well ****...whiffed on both.
Still getting and staying in the hunt for a coach that hasn't even coached a game yet is a good sign.
But yeah, dude still needs to back off KBD.
Across other recruiting boards, it appears Wiggins is exploring more options outside of UK and FSU. His family has been calling schools over the past week asking for increased involvement in his recruitment. In the last year +, it has always been implied that those two schools were the only options.
So this is interesting to say the least. Guess if he decides to reclassify, he doesn't want to go to a team where there's 3, or more, guys who prefer to have the ball in their hands already.
UK got lucky with MKG and Davis. Both can be extremely effective (I'd say better, even) off the ball. The team they are building looks more like a collection of talent rather than a masterpiece that can develop chemistry in less than a season.
I also heard Wiggins and Randle aren't fans of the Harrison twins so that might have something to do with it. Although most assume Randle is probably going to UK anyway.
Obviously don't count out UK yet. IMO, this says two things though...
1) He might want to go to a team where he can be featured more.
2) If so, he may not feel as comfortable heading to FSU as people seem to think. Because there he would clearly be the top dog, his father went to FSU, his high school teammate is joining the Seminoles... Yet, he is expanding his list?
It also pretty much guarantees he reclassifies.
Good analysis on Wiggin's situation. Frankly I'll be happy if he goes anywhere but UK. Of course I would love for him to come to MSU that's not happening. Hopefully we can nab Jabari though.
