Re: Sprite Slam DUNK Contest! (Participants announced)
I agree that I'd prefer the standard "take a group and advance the top two or three to the finals" procedure, but I'll take the six competitor east vs. west format. We've seen something similar before (Desmond Mason and Jason Richardson battled against one another pre-finals in the early '00's and it still ended up being fun).
Yeah I agree it can be good but I don't to see Jeremy Evans sneak into the finals and then face say Green or White who had to use their best dunks to get past each other. :confusedshrug:

My hope is a western conference player earns that final. And sometimes, the ones we feel will bring it, don't. So I guess we'll have to see. Again though, I'm encouraged by six dunkers. Hopefully it's not just one dunk a piece.

East vs West?
East would shit on the West
Re: Sprite Slam DUNK Contest! (Participants announced)
Really wanted to see Deandre Jordan or Paul George. Still a good list though. Not sure about the East vs. West format though. I'm also praying I don't have to watch Kenny Smith with his annoying antics.

I think it will be an improvement, but I still feel like it won't be as good as it should be. Hopefully I'm wrong, but as long as we get back to judging and not online voting and no props ill be fine with it.

Aw. I wanted John Wall. Plus it would be nice to see UK's Bledsoe vs. Wall.

Re: Sprite Slam DUNK Contest! (Participants announced)
From what I've heard about James White, and what I know about Gerald Green, the East is easily gonna win this.
Re: Sprite Slam DUNK Contest! (Participants announced)
Unfortunately, fan voting still seems to be in, at least in the finals:
The 2013 Sprite Slam Dunk contest will consist of the three Eastern Conference players competing against the three from the Western Conference in a two-round competition. The highest scoring East competitor and the highest scoring West competitor from the Team Round will compete head-to-head to determine the champion. Fan voting (via text, Twitter, NBA.com and the NBA
