melo really needs to shoot over 49 from that close.

Yeah,he needs to get better at finishing at the rim.
He doesn't get as many calls as he should get so that's also ruining his percentage. It's tougher to make a layup when you're fouled.

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
Skim review:
Harden has pattern of trying to score on layups or threes primarily. He's shooting worst % on threes, though. Nobody shooting corner threes (not spacers?). Lebron's layups are deadly. Bryant and Durant scores in the paint more than others. Um.
I like that scoring is down, numbers less inflated.

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
If Melo starts hitting those bunnies, he could see a spike in his numbers.
-
Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
According to those stats Lebron is only 2nd to Harden in terms of % of shots taken at the rim, but he is dead last in free throw attempts at 5.7 per game. That's the fewest amount of attempts in his career. I haven't seen many Heat games this season. Can anyone explain why he's not getting to the line as much as he has in past seasons?

Lebron becoming deadly at shooting 3s....
kobe, melo and durant are probably the most versatile elite scorers because their mid range game...

He gets hacked like crazy. That's why all the fuss started that he wasn't getting calls.

For the most part, he's avoiding contact like the Black Plague this season, probably due to his piss poor 64% FT shooting. The refs have also let a let a lot of contact go on Lebron this year, there have been plenty of times where replays show blatant fouls that were uncalled.
-
Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
Yep, Westbrook and Lebron are outside Top 10 in free throw attempts, which is ****in retarded for the 2 most athletic and explosive players in the league.

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
LeBron has an absolutely absurd finishing rate...

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
Y'know what I find simply amazing?
All current stats by the time this is posted from basketball reference:
Wade is shooting 39.6% from 16 ft to 3-pt.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wadedw01/shooting/2013/
LeBron is shooting 37.9% from 16 ft to 3-pt.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jamesle01/shooting/2013/
THAT is stunning to me. It does not seem that Wade jumper is that good at all, and LeBron is that bad. Granted, LeBron took more shots, but not that much. And before the Knicks game, Wade's jumper at the 16ft to 3pt must have been around 40%. He has sucked hard from the 10-15 ft though. So, his overall jumper sucks.

If you get fouled on a lay up it goes against you as a missed FGA?

Nope. It only counts if you made it.

You can actually check his percentage for layups and dunks.
LeBron with layups is 69.9%. And he is 100% with dunks.

Dude is a beast. Best finisher in the league, and he must be one of the best finisher of all time, especially for a perimeter player. He has been shooting over 70% from the inside since 2006-07 season. I don't think anybody is better than at it. At least none of the perimeter superstars today or the 00s. The guy is unstoppable. And he almost gets better every year. This year, he is averaging a career high from the inside atm.

still. 49 in the restricted area is pretty awful.

Wade 10-15 feet has been mainly his post moves and floaters which were not falling at all last month like they usually do.
His midrange has been on most of the year.....those started falling and he's shooting 57% in December

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
Although Durant has been ridiculously efficient, you cannot really say the rest have not. Even Harden with the worst FG% in there has compensated by shooting so many FTs at a high percentage. Carmelo on the other hand has been superior at 3pt shooting and very accurate as well, he has not shown interest in scoring in the paint though. LeBron as always deadly finishing at the rim making 76% of his shots within the restricted area. Kobe's phenomenal volume scoring continues, he has made almost 48% of his 21FGA per game which is impressive since has been scoring from everywhere.

Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
:oldlol: Melo's an embarrassment as a finisher. A guy with his physical tools should be shooting in the mid to high 60s at the rim every year, but he usually finishes below league average.

Do you even watch the games...
Melo's finishing % at the rim is negatively impacted by the fact that referee's ALWAYS allow players to be more physical when guarding him. If every foul he drew
was called, he'd be shooting an absurd amount of FTs right now.

I dont understand i havent watched many games this season but why is lebron shooting so few freethrows considering more than half of his shots came in paint area.Thats more than any other player in top 5 and he is by far shooting the least amount of freethrows.
-
Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
LOL @ Harden's in the paint percentage. Shows how bad he is when he doesn't get all the way to the bucket or get a foul called.

The tendency to get out of LBJ's way and avoid contact among defenders is considerably higher compared to the rest. But if the plan is to foul him, like last night, he'd get shitloads of FTs.
-
Re: League's Top 5 Scorers Shooting Analysis
Updated.
Durant with the most PPG bump over the last two weeks, plus his restricted and FG% is up by 7%. Is there anybody who still thinks Durant is just a jump shooter considering 34% of his shots come from the restricted area and inside the paint?
LeBron keeps his incredible finishing percentage up although he gets the least amount of FTs among the top 5 scorers. On another note LBJ is hitting that corner 3 really well which is amazing considering he never was a good 3pt shooter and now he can hit the most difficult one well :applause:
Not much progress or regress regarding the rest save for Kobe's obvious struggles which could attributed to his team failing collectively. Melo has improved his finishing under the rim a bit but not by a wide margin, he really needs to work on that if the Knicks want a longer PO this time around.
