Brandon Jennings saving money on cars

"After signing his rookie National Basketball Association contract worth nearly $4.5 million with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brandon Jennings could have walked into any dealership showroom in the city and driven away in something that said he'd arrived.
BMW 7-Series. Cadillac Escalade. Lexus LS600H. Mercedes-Benz S-Class. None of those would do. So Jennings is the proud new owner of a . . .
. . . Ford Edge. Starting MSRP: $26,900.
"I probably saved $40,000," Jennings says proudly. "And who knows with the league? There might be a lockout in a couple years. I'm saving my money.""
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
I know this doesn't have as much to do with character as it does knowledge/smarts (which is kinda ironic since he decided to skip college) but I don't get where people are hearing this stuff about his bad attitude.
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
with the news on antoine walker more players should be doing the same thing
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
Didn't think he would be the one to save money, maybe he won't go broke when he retires.

yup
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
Already sounds smarter than 99% of the league.

Not all cancers don't know how to spend their money.
:oldlol: @ a guy buying a cheap car means he doesn't have a bad attitude.
Only on ISH where you will see this type of idiocy.
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
Jennings is a scrub he's not worthy of having his own thread.

it was smart for him to skip college. he wouldn't have stayed 4 years anyway to get a degree, and he can always go back. plus he made a couple million dollars last season in europe, while guys like tyreke evans or derozan didn't. well derozan might have cause he went to usc.
so lets see
tyreke evans = no college degree, made no money last year
brandon jennings = no college degree, made a couple million last year.
looks like a smart decision.

I doubt he made a couple of millions, more in the 100k to 500k range, plus some endorsement deals. It
Re: Brandon Jennings saving money on cars
I think it was Darius Miles that made some idiotic statement that you "haven't arrived" until you spend over $300 grand on a vehicle-smart move by this kid. I agree with Interminator - just because he's "thrifty" doesn't mean he doesn't have a bad attitude....hell, I'm a cheap bastard and I'm still one of the biggest jerks around!!! College vs Europe - I really think that it depends on the individual, what he's looking for, what he needs and what kind of support system (family, etc) is available.
yeah because playing under different rules and having teammates speak a different language prepares you better for the nba than playing for a coach like roy williams, mike krzyzewski or john calipari.
I think the man is actually right. There was an article about Jennings when he was in Europe, and the first day of practice the coach threw him out because he was pouting and wasn't playing up to his maximum level. Then Jennings shaped up and the coach let him play again. Plus it talked about how he had to find accomodation and adjust to living away from his family.

I agree - I think most college coaches would not have handled him in this manner - sure some would, but not many.
