What about Jordan's 63 vs Cs in 1986?

Def Rtg: 102.6 is above the admittedly arbitrary cutoff of 100.6 ( I was thinking 100 or less at first, but Pierce was so close and Penny was so close to Pierce after that)
According to wikipedia it would #1 @ 48.6 though (#17 on the list)

Oh OK makes sense
I dont get why Kobe's 45/10 game vs 01 Spurs is such a low gamescore though
What is interesting is that those 2 Shaq performances were back to back

Only 6 FTM and 1 3PM for Kobe in that game. All of these other games have some sort of incredible 3 pt shooting, rebounding or FTs making to go with a high scoring total.

You agree with the list and method of ranking (gamescore)? Seems slightly arbitrary. How does it work?

GameScore is basically the one game equivalent of PER.
(Points x 1.0) + (FGM x 0.4) + (FGA x -0.7) + ((FTA-FTM) x -0.4) + (OREB x 0.7) + (DREB x 0.3) + (STL x 1.0) + (AST x 0.7) + (BLK x 0.7) + (PF x -0.4) + (TO x -1.0)
I chose it to rank the players just because it gave me a quick way to do so. Given the context of the games I'd 2004 Kobe game higher as well as Duncan's game. Kobe for playing against a better D than the other 9 and Duncan for his game being in the Finals. I'd move Dirk's down a bit considering that his team lost.
Re: Top 10 playoff game performance against elite defenses since 1985...
Also it would probably be better if GameScore didn't count blocks and steals. Getting more blocks and steals against a great defense doesn't mean anything more than getting blocks and steals against a weak defense.

09 Magic = 101.9 doesn't qualify
08 Celtcs = 98.9 qualifies but LeBron's best game only netted a 32.8 GameScore

So you see this criteria as pretty solid other than the fact that the gamescore doesn't take competition into account?

It also treats all overtime stats the same as a normal game which overrates them a bit.
