Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart tied for first place in voting for best rookie defender in the league's annual Rookie Survey.
Smart tied with Philadelphia's K.J. McDaniels while earning 13.5 percent of the vote among the 38 first-year players surveyed Sunday at the rookie photo shoot in Tarrytown, N.Y.
