I feel out of any year since Jordan retired, this is the one season that doesn't have a truly definitive answer, and has the most candidates as well. Who would you consider to be the best player that season?

Dwyane Wade.
Regular season? or the whole year playoffs included?
If accounting only for regular season, maybe Rose/Dwight. Accounting for the playoffs, probably Dirk.
Wade
Godbe.
With full hindsight looking back it's got to be Dirk.
Regular season: Lebron
Playoffs: Dirk
Wade
Dirk and Wade. He killed it in the Finals when LeBron wasn't on the ball as much.
And I've always thought 05 was the more contentious year.
Kobe was injured / clearly not the best when playing. Duncan struggled offensively in the Playoffs. Shaq was a year removed from his prime and didn't dominate the postseason. Dirk didn't have an otherworldly year. Garnett missed the Playoffs. Nash was never seen as the best player in the league, or even top 3. I mean, you could argue that someone like Ben Wallace or maybe even Andrei Kirilenko had a top 5 impact on the floor.
Finals: LeBron
LeBron still ability wise. Choked bad though.
This guy deserves a mention

Dirk or Wade.
LeBron, Wade, Rose, Dirk, and Howard all have arguments. I think Dirk's playoff run puts him over the top.
Lebron and Dirk. Wade and Dwight closely behind them. I do think people overrate Dwight that year a little bit. He was really in a perfect system for him.
