Paul Pierce off the bench

Ainge is losing it .. Pierce was pretty solid in the playoffs i thought. Spud is on suicide watch.

fellow C's fans.. whats your view? I think we ship green off .. forget the future .. championship window is still open.. I'd like a solid back up for Ray, and of course dwight.. post some trade ideas.

Where in the link does it confirm pierce coming off the bench?

Anyway, I could see this working if pierce comes in with the second team and finishes the half. Green goes out for a break and come back in as power forward. Likewise, Pierce comes in late in the 3rd quarter and finishes the game. Green finishes at power forward.

KG starts but shifts to center to finish the half and also shifts to center to finish the game. That means Jermaine O'Neil starts but only plays in the first quarter and the third quarter.

Pierce would be an instant candidate for 6th man of the year.

If somehow we can convince Marc Gasol to sign for Boston, the team still aint over yet. If we fail, i'd like to see a move made for Dalembert. Dude's basically a 'brainless' version of KG who defends very well due to his length and incredible wingspan but he has almost 0 offensive capability :lol

Re: Paul Pierce off the bench

Championship window is closed with this group. Sad, but that's reality. Time to look forward.

Pierce off the bench is.............interesting. Logic would suggest that Ray Allen off the bench makes more sense..........but perhaps Ainge has plans for Allen's expiring contract? Hmmmm.

Pierce would be quite a weapon off the bench........playing 25-30 mpg would save his legs for the post season.

To maximize Green's value, he may have to start. And by all means they should aim to keep him. West and Krstic too. But Glen Davis needs to be shipped off to the low B-Ball IQ farm that took in Tony Allen.

Sorry if I rambled a bit...

As a side note, I expect that Ainge will look to re-tool the team on the fly. KG, Allen, and JO have about $38 million in expiring deals. All 3 could get traded by the deadline, as teams line up to make a run at Howard and Paul.

Imagine if KG gets traded for a couple of good players, then gets bought out and resigns for short money. :D

The part where it says "you can read the full transcript at WEEI" :facepalm

Ainge just threw it out there, more of a hypothetical.. its probs the exact opposite as to whats going to happen - but its pretty clear that he's going to shake the shiiit out of the team.. i say get rid of Allen and rondo... try get Chris Paul and someone else of quality - i heard cp3 was a celtics fan growing up

this.

Celts just need a solid big man in the middle and for rondo to develop a jumpshot

do that and the celts are a good shout to win it next year

Re: Paul Pierce off the bench

Their window is closed, they are far too old to compete with the Bulls and Heat anymore. Marc Gasol is quickly becoming the most overrated player on this board, he is good but being a big, tough C next to Randolph makes your job a whole lot easier.

I think that pierce should maybe play some less minutes but no way should he come off the bench

... they'll figure out somethin

the only thing i'm basing this shout on is CP3 and LBJ having the same manager and them being good mates off court combined with miami needing an upgrade at the PG position

its a far fetched idea, would be difficult to make happen but it's plausible with some tricky juggling of finances/salaries/endorsements which pat riley (or his lawyers/accountants) seems quite adept at

Re: Paul Pierce off the bench

Ray Allen sucks off the bench. His handle is shaky, and hes almost useless unless he shoots 3's lights out. It was evident in the playoffs...Ray relies more on PG play now in his career.

When Doc put Paul with the 2nd unit instead of Ray, we kept the lead and control most of the way.

Paul Pierce at this stage of his career can still get a better shot than Ray Allen. The system has been great as its gotten us one Championship and 2 finals, but Paul Pierce can still score 22-24ppg in this league. Put him off the bench in a Manu role and hes still give 17-18ppg 6 and 5 in his sleep.

The notion of Paul Pierce coming off the bench is downright ridiculous.
