im not even a melo hater, just stating that he didnt fit in with what dantoni was trying to do but apparently he was a perfect fit

So Melo didn't play point forward? Melo didn't take more 3's and play on the wing more? Melo didn't average the most assists in his career with D'Antoni? Melo didn't reduce his shots per game to the lowest level since his second year in the league?

All he did was hog the ball for 23 seconds and then shoot, right?

Melo didn't win games, plain and simple. He has no more excuses now.

Up until Gallo got hurt the Nuggets were a top 4 seeded team in the west. Once he went down they dropped out of the top 8 seeds. Since he's come back however, they've jumped back up to 6th.

Up until Melo got hurt we were a few games under .500 and playing terrible basketball. During Melo being out, Linsanity happened, and we climbed all the way back up to .500. Melo comes back and were back under .500 and currently in 9th in the east.

Now I know you might think I'm trying to make a case that Gallo is better. I'm not, because he's not better then Carmelo Anthony. What that actually tells us is just how terrible of a coach Mike D'Antoni was.

George Karl had Danilo Gallinari and his Nuggets playing winning basketball because everyone on that team buys in to Karl and what he's trying to do there. They're success is on Karl.

Mike D'Antoni had no clue what he was doing with this team. They didn't want his system and he didn't seem like he was open to suggestions. Our team was a mess and we lost.

The reason the Nuggets lost with Gallo out is because he was an important feature in Karl's system. The reason we won with Melo out is because the players who were playing, had bought in to the system with Lin involved and were playing well. Melo came back and wasn't with the system.

Lol you can't be serious. that was as non-athletic play I've seen since Artest missed that layup last year. No NBA player should have missed that layup and ZaZa had NO intention on dunking that ball.

BTW I do recall someone arguing me to the ground about how we should bring ZaZa Pachulia in last year.

NeNe was hurt too. Just saying. Look, I think ppl think i have something against Gallo. I definitely dont. He played his but off and gave it all he had. I dont knock him. I moreso have a problem with the fans that overrated him.

I also have a problem with once sided stats to prove points. The Nuggets record is better with Melo? Really? Well last time I checked they one 1 game in the playoffs without Melo and they went to the conference finals with him. You're just hating. Zaza tried to bring the ball under Gallo for a layup instead of a straight away dunk or lay in. I'm not saying Zaza isn't shit or that Gallo is Dwight Howard. But if he hadn't stepped over, it would have been a much easier shot.

Actually Billups was the one leading that Conference Finals team. Billups is the Getting-to-the-Conference-Finals Master. With Melo their just first round fodder. :confusedshrug:

He's playing with energy and unselfishness. Basically the way D'antoni wanted him too play; he just didn't want to do it for D'antoni.

It would be a shame if he was purposely dogging it to get the coach fired. His integrity was already in question.

The thing is Melo has been doing what he's been asked most of the season, but he was showing he didn't want to.

No Mike wanted him to play point forward and hoist up 3s. Just like he wants al his players to do. He also could care less about Melo's defense or anyone else's. Remember, this is the guy who started Shawne Williams at center last year.

Chandler and Mike Woodson were brought in to save face. D'Antoni DID NOT endorse the Tyson Chandler trade! Just because you play centers doesn't mean you like em. Mozgov was more of his type because he's a finesse Euro type.

We didn't trade for Chandler, but I don't recall a sour note from D'antoni about it. Certainly not as sour as you were about it. The trade he didn't want was the Melo trade, and was ominously right.

To be fair scoooter, I think all of us was pissed at how much Chandler was getting paid and we had no point guard because of it at the time.

But he's erased that perception, he's worth it.

But as far as the D'antoni thing, he plays centers, I can't argue with that part.

I thought he was overpaid too, but so far this year he's been the only one of the "big three" worth his contract.

Still I would do Melo and Chandler for Dwight and Hedo in heartbeat.

It would be hard to say no to that, even though I like both guys.

Howard could average 20 boards, and 20 points with out errant missed shots, easily.

Then the team would have a few dollars to sepnd on retooling the roster with some of the guys were bound to lose.

But I seriously doubt anyone noteworthy gets traded.

It's basically already been confirmed. My respect for this team is plummeting rapidly, although by most accounts Carmelo was the ringleader. STAT was trying to get everyone to buy into the system, but Melo's moping about just sucked all the energy off the court. And then they go out against the Blazers and basically do all the stuff D'antoni wanted them to do, resulting a blowout win. It's shameful, but the star friendly culture of the NBA entitles these guys to that end.

We'll see how they play though. Teams always do this after an abrupt coaching change. We've already seen it this year with the Wizards and the Kings. Players play hard because they know that the excuse of, "It was all the coaches fault" is out the window. Those two have already come back down to Earth - ultimately they are who we thought they were.

We also saw it with the Pacers last year, but they were able to sustain it because their coach turned out to be better. Unfortunately we already know Mike Woodson is crap, which is why it took everyone an grand total of 14 seconds to start to look ahead to Phil Jackson and Jerry Sloan.

Soooo what then? Stick with Woodson? Go after a successful college coach like Calipari or Coach K? Bring in an assistant coach from a successful team like the Bulls did with Thibidou?

All of those moves would be question marks. With Phil Jackson, we'd be getting a sure thing, in my opinion. Jerry Sloan is a good coach as well but there are some question marks as to whether his system is up to date or not...

I dont think we're getting a sure thing at all with Phil or Sloan. We've gone down that route numerous times. Get the big name HOF coach and pay him big bucks. What always happens is that they come in, clach with the players, then they say " I've won my ring already...F this".

I don't want Calipari. We've seen him coach in the NBA before. I dont even like him all that much as a college coach. He's an excellent recruiter but on the court he's far too volatile and intense.He reminds me of what Shaq used to call Stan Van Gundy. Master of Panic. Rick Pitino is the same way. Coach K isn't leaving Duke, where he's adored, to coach in NY, where he'll be booed the 1st time he loses a game. If the Lakers couldnt get him, I doubt we can.

I'd go the hungry assistant route. While I wasnt a huge Van Gundy fan, he did have success. What fans fail to realize is, sometimes players and coaches blow up because of the coach's ego!
