Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
Derrick Rose current PER: 5.30
Kendrick Perkins current PER: 5.69
How Lebron stans will react: "PER = real stat, and proof that Rose sucks!!!"
How level headed basketball fans will react: "PER is a BS stat... and the season has only just started"

It is when a player is rusty coming back from a knee surgery and the season is 5 games old. Paul Milsap is currently ahead of Lebron.
DeMarcus Cousin's PER currently greater than any PER that Dirk, Magic, Bird or Hakeem ever put up in a year. Paul Milsap drawfs a majority of those GOAT's best years.
Mike Conley would be among the great PG's ever and way above Stockton's best year. And that beast Jeff Adrien, if his holds up he would be ahead of Dr. J on the all-time list. Markieff Morris give him seven more years at his current pace and he's a lock for top ten ever.
You would never confuse current current Isiah Thomas with the old school Piston one, because Old School would have never gotten close to the PER numbers of this current guy.

Here's your problem: you shouldn't be comparing PER's across NBA eras.
This season, so far, yes, I would say Paul Millsap has probably helped his team more than LeBron has helped his team.
Will that change? Probably.
PER is a fine stat. It's not perfect, but over a season it's pretty good at telling you who helped out their team the most.

Does this mean Perkins will win MVP? :confusedshrug:

No, because many players will have a higher PER than Perkins. Believe it or not. :oldlol:

Don't know if you are serious or not but do you really think Jeff Adrien and Steven Adams are way better than Tony Parker and Duncan? You really think Paul Milsap is going to finish say 8 points higher with his PER this year than his best year??? If you are going by stats after five games then Michael Carter Williams is an alltime great. Anthony Davis is officially a lock for a top five GOAT.

Re: Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
PER is like passer rating. It's a good stat. Better than looking at raw ppg/yards for example. But no stat can be a substitute for watching the game.

Re: Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
The Bulls should trade Rose, Noah, Boozer, Deng, and the mascot Benny the Bull for Perkins.
Perkins would be reunited with Thibs, and he'll be able to run point. Miami Heat eat your heart out. Tragic Bronson coming to dethrone u and get dat chip.

Are you kidding? That will never happen. Too much power for the Bulls to acquire (see: Kendrick GOATkins), Stern will veto for sure.

Rose needs to go hard in da motafkn paint!!!
-
Re: Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
It's not difficult. It's a very good production stat.
You just have to compare like with like.
You don't compare the PER of a guy playing 15 minutes a game to a guy playing 35 minutes a game.
Not hard.
-
Re: Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
Stats and metrics don't matter until at least 20 games into the season.
-
Re: Kendrick Perkins currently has a higher PER than Derrick Rose:
Hey, gotta give credit where it is due.
Rose's PER was 1.8 through 3 games. Over the last 2, he's almost tripled it.

When did I say that? Of course they won't maintain it. The junk players will flow to the bottom, and the good ones will float to the top. Just like it happens every year.

Anyone with even the slightest basic basketball knowledge knew Rose sucked anyway. What is the point?
Rose has always sucked. Even when he was "MVP" he was one of the worst players in the NBA.

PER is useless. Last thing we need is our sport getting dilluted with sabermetricians like Baseball - you can't have a sane discussion with freaks preaching WAR.

He's not below Perkins in PER. The OP was clowning the over excited haters. But if you think Rose is himself. You're a real idiot.
