Are posters really trying to say that ALL of the Jordan pics are bad angles?
That's almost impossible, and simply one of the most obvious denials i've ever seen.
[U]UPDATED: Pictures of Jordan with Head At or Above Rim

Re: LeBron's Vertical Revealed
I think people are forgetting the selection bias again Jordan since there were fewer cameras in the Jordan era. Especially the 80's with the grainy as f**know shots. This means there is no hd or enough shots or good angles of Jordans vertical in his athletic prime. I would say he at the minimum had 45 or 46 inches out of high school or rookie seasons.

Does anyone know if it's with or without PED's?
Re: LeBron's Vertical Revealed
So Jordan actually jumps higher:
MICHAEL JORDAN'S VERTICAL JUMP
Krugh _l LeVeau B
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC
PURPOSE The purpose of this study, which was part of an advanced
master's motion analysis class project in 1983, was to determine Michael Jordan's maximum vertical jump.
SUBJEa Michael Jordan
METHODS: Surface markers: Left lateral malleolus, left femoral epicondyle, left greater trochanter, left pelvic crest and right distal phalanges of digits 2 and 3 of the hand.
Tasks (in order) were:
Vertical reach while standing flat-footed-baseline
Vertical reach during a jump from standing
Vertical reach during a jump from running
Vertical reach during a 1-hand dunk
Vertical reach during a 2-hand dunk
All tasks except baseline vertical reach were done with free swing of
the upper limb(s). Equipment and instrumentation: Camera, lighting, markers, meter stick, and standard basketball. Location: Carmichael Gymnasium, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
DATA ANALYSIS: Distance measurements were analyzed by comparison to a meter stick in view of the camera. Displacement measure
ments of reach (pelvis) involved measurement of vertical height to
the tip of fingers 2 and 3 (pelvis) during a task minus vertical height
to the tip of fingers 2 and 3 (pelvis) during bilateral flat-footed
stance. Velocity measurements were analyzed by dividing vertical
height distance traveled divided by time taken for the tasks. A
VanGuard Motion Analyzer was used to analyze motion frame by
frame.
RESULTS: Maximum measurements:
Vertical reach while standing flat-footed 93.67 in.
Floor to pelvic crest while standing 49.00 in.
Vertical reach displacement during a jump 35.93 in.
from standing
Vertical displacement of the pelvis during a 38.07 in.
jump from running
Vertical velocity during a jump from running 6500.00"/sec
Vertical reach displacement during a jump 45.76 in.
from running
Vertical reach displacement during 41.70 in.
a 1-hand dunk
Vertical reach displacement during 40.93 in.
a 2-hand dunk
During the vertical reach from standing, push from the floor was
with both feet. During the vertical reach during a jump from running, push from the floor was with oncfoot and momentum of the
body, two upper limbs, and one lower limb was used to the maximum.
CONCLUSION/CLJNICAL RELEVAN=. Maximum displacement
for vertical reach was achieved with a jump from a running start, a
2-hand dunk, a 1-hand dunk, and a jump from standing, respectively.
This is consistent with use of momentum of the body and limbs to
assist with the vertical displacement. Michael Jordan's vertical jump
ability during several tasks provides a standard with which athletic
achievement by others can be compared.
Although his running vert being 10 inches higher than his standing vert is...suspect.
Re: LeBron's Vertical Revealed
There is no video of Dr. J or Lebron getting their head at rim off two legs, and no video of Dominique getting his head at rim off one leg... Only Jordan has documented footage of him getting his head at rim off both one AND two legs.

:confusedshrug:
Therefore, he's the greatest leaper of all time, out of the players that matter.. Jordan's superior leaping versatility helps explain his goat scoring skill and unstoppableness.
(again, this is out of the players that matter - so aside from gerald green and a couple other dunk specialists - but tbh, i've only seen gerald green get his head at rim off two legs, and james white only off one leg)

Right now its 41"-42"
FYI Dwight Howards MAX vert was only 38", Derrick Rose's max was only 40"
Heck Blake Griffin only has a 37" vert
LeBron's 6'8 right?
So if his head is 6-7 inches over the 10 foot rim then thats 46-47 inches right?
my bad just an inch shorter than 48" :sleeping
LeBron > MJ
Re: LeBron's Vertical Revealed
LeBron > MJ
He isn't. Jordan has a 48 inch vertical leap. Lebron has a 44 in VL. Plenty of players have higher vertical leaps than Lebron.
Re: LeBron's Vertical Revealed
prime MJ was 190-200 lbs wet
Lebron weighs 260+ his entire career
Put two 35 pound dumbells in Ordans hands and he wouldn't even sniff 20 inch vert
LBJ bulk leap > skin n bones Ordan's

Not that suspect. 10 inches is a lot, but I had a huge difference in mine. People w/ standing vert have different bodies and are like doing squats. People with running verts are probably better if they aren't afraid to jump as high as they can.
A running vert is completely different if you think about it. You step onto one leg and push yourself off, where as with a standing vert you basically have to almost squat down and jump up... to reach max jump, but nobody playing basketball is going to do that. Just bend their knees a little.
35 inches standing vert is actually really good. Obviously some dudes have 40, but again that's at the combine where they can really bend their knees and jump fully in a way that doesn't really relate to basketball. Even one step @ 40 inches is pretty amazing.
Also lol at dudes saying Bron's head was 6 or 7 inches over the rim. That's nonsense. If someone's head got that far over the rim in one clip, it would show in other clips. It's just a weird angle.
