Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
For those of you who don't remember the hit-piece interview Embiid did before ducking a H2H with Jokic:
"But then again, he won as a sixth seed in the West. And then this year, I'm leading the league in scoring, I'm doing all of these things defensively … I should be making an All-Defensive team too. I don't care, but every year it's something. And when you add analytics into it, which don't make sense. You can talk about analytics all you want. When you got some guys in the league, the eye test tells you that they're not good defensively, but analytics tell you they're the best defenders. That's when analytics don't make sense at all. I don't make the rules, I don't choose whatever criteria that they use, so it's really about whatever people's preferences are."
Here's what Nikola had to say about Embiid and the MVP race:
“I don’t think about MVPs anymore. I think people are mean in saying Embiid shouldn’t have won it,” Jokic says. “If you watch it, I think he was playing extremely tough basketball the entire season.”
Mr. High Road! When they go low, you go high.

Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
Embiid is a PoS, Jokic is a likable guy.
Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
Embiid statistically deserved it much more, since Jokic’s PPG went down since Porter and Murray were finally healthy.
Rebounding equal.
Steals Jokic was top 25 in the league most of the seasonz
Blocks Embiid by far.
Embiid is the better paint defender by far. Not just blocks, but changed shots.
But Jokic is actually the significantly better defender in the PNR, surprisingly.
Embiid cared about winning the MVP, his first.
Jokic already won two and didn’t really care about either.
He certainly didn’t care about getting a third, as that was far less important than taking significantly lower volume FGA for long stretches this season, to make sure Porter and Murray confidence and comfort got as high as it could prior to this title run.
And winning the chip was gonna make everyone say he was the real MVP anyway…
Son is more than a step ahead of all the selfish slow pokes tryna max their own shine as bright as it can get … within a TEAM sport. And by not focusing on his own, but on the team, in the end he will shine brightest.
Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
Won't Embiid be fuming if Joker takes a ring the same season he gets his MVP?
Fvcking hilarious
Stupid little floor wiggler
Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
Great thread OP, keep up the good work
Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
We all can see that the joker was raised well by his parents. Being humble etc
Whereas people like Lebron are raised without a daddy and we can see that when he speaks and acts.

Re: Jokic speaks on Embiid and the MVP; takes the high road
It’s easy to take the high road when he already has two MVP awards. He’s not hungry for the MVP anymore. He wants a ring.

A finals mvp will be a big statement to his collection.
