McCelland and James' mother's relationship was casual and obviously wasn't planned since she was 16 when she got pregnant. He wasn't a supportive father obviously and when LeBron was a child McClelland was convicted of arson and theft.

LeBron's mother let him live with a friend who had a stable family named Frank Walker because she felt he was better off there than with her. Walker was a youth football coach and was the main reason LeBron took up basketball at 9 years old. Who's to say that if McClelland was a decent father that LeBron would've ever loved basketball as much as he does?

I know one thing. I'm sure McClleland is kind of pissed at himself at being a dead beat father nonetheless. If LeBron would've turned out the same way now with him in his life he would've been set for life financially like Gloria is
